Summary

A sensual power struggle in the Scottish Highlands - the rightful heir and the worthiest warrior. With the marriage of the warring lovers, Aila and Dagmar, and the beginning of their combined rule, it seemed that everything was falling into place in Hail. There was peace and prosperity. Spring turned to summer, and summer turned to fall, and the seasons turned many times. Time slipped past, and as it did the Picts of Hail began to forget about the danger to their lands and believe that they had found a place that they could hold forever. Then, one winter morning, that belief was shattered by the arrival of brutal and well-trained soldiers intent on taking Pictland in the name of Rome. Once more, Aila and Dagmar are called upon to save their people over the course of one long night of crisis in the Scottish Highlands. Are these hours their last together?
