Book three in the best-selling Alexis Silver, Mermaid Detective series! Alexis Silver has worked as a PI long enough to have many strange clients try to hire her...but the CIA is a first. People have secrets, mermaids more than most. When a CIA agent shows up claiming to know her biggest one, Alex finds herself at a disadvantage. However, the government wants her help. Despite being beyond the cares of mortals, she still considers herself an American and feels obligated to do what she can. Disappearance cases are fairly routine, but a desperate thrall hiring her to find a missing vampire is a bizarre twist that piques her curiosity. Tracking down an off-the-grid undead is like being right back to the 1940s. All she’s missing is the fedora. An inexplicable change has happened to the fabric of the universe, evidently driving some dark masters insane. An Ohio-class nuclear missile sub is about the worst place imaginable for a werewolf to have an existential crisis. Though mermaids aren't well equipped to fight other supernaturals, Alex isn't about to let nukes hit the US. Even if it kills her.

From J.R. Rain and Matthew S. Cox, the best-selling duo that brought you New Moon Rising and Convergence, comes Silver Light, the first in a brand-new fantasy series starring Alexis Silver, a mermaid detective! For centuries, tales have told of merfolk haunting the seas, strange creatures teasing or helping sailors at their whim, occasionally having them for dinner. And not in a cordial sense. Alexis Silver was ahead of her time, a woman too smart to fit into society at the turn of the century. She gave up her dreams of higher education for love, marrying young. But her husband, and the life she wanted, perished in World War I, soon after. Heartbroken and restless, she booked passage on a cruise along the West Coast in search of adventure, but adventure found her. The ship capsized, killing everyone on board, except for her. As she drifted far beneath the waves, inexplicably alive, the reason for her survival flashed by in a streak of silver: a merman. He had passed along the curse - or gift - as Alexis sees it. A century later, she breaks up the monotony of immortality in the Pacific Northwest working as a private investigator. The long-dormant maternal instincts of her resident Dark Master kick in when a nice older couple hire her to find their missing son and his family. Her instincts tell her this isn't like her usual jilted-spouse cases. If she doesn't work fast, a little girl is going to die.

A treasured early manuscript version of one of the most enduring children’s stories, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. Charles Dodgson, later to be known as Lewis Carroll, was a mathematics tutor at Christ Church, Oxford. In 1856 he became friends with Henry Liddell and his family. Dodgson’s friendship with the Liddell children would lead to one of the most successful children's books ever. The story was told to Alice Liddell and her sisters, Lorina and Edith, on a trip down the river on July 4, 1862. During the trip, Dodgson told the girls a story that featured a bored little girl named Alice who goes looking for an adventure. Alice asked Dodgson to write it down for her. On November 26, 1864, Dodgson presented Alice with this manuscript as “A Christmas Gift to a Dear Child in Memory of a Summer's Day”. Dodgson was encouraged by friends to publish his manuscript so everyone could enjoy it. So how did the manuscript end up at the British Library? Alice Liddell treasured it until 1928 but was forced to sell it to pay death duties for her husband. The manuscript sold at Sotheby’s for £15,000 to a Dr. Rosenbach. He in turn sold it to Eldridge Johnson. Following Johnson’s death in 1946, the manuscript was again at auction. This time it was purchased by a group of benefactors who donated the manuscript to the British Museum in 1948. Billy boarded the train to Minneapolis. He had come to Los Angeles months before as a small-time preacher. Now he was leaving as one of the most recognized Christians in the country. It was not what Billy had sought; he'd just been open for God to use. Billy wondered if this would be the peak of his fame or if something bigger was about to happen. The oldest son of dairy farmers from Charlotte, North Carolina, young Billy Graham attended evangelical revival meetings that inspired him for the rest of his life. As an ordained minister, he rose to prominence and would subsequently preach the Christian message to over 200 million people in 185 countries.
