The term "happiness" is used in different respects. It is a paragon of everything that is good, in the broadest sense. In this respect, the terms "wellness" or "quality of life" as well as "personal welfare" and "social welfare" are often used interchangeably. This use of words implies the ultimate good and masks differences of concern among people and society. Here, the term "gladness" is used in the more subjective sense of life satisfaction.
