The Witch with Nine Lives

Summary

Due to her mother's curse, Medea turns into a cat at night. Her mother, Dima, has a shape-shifting stone. She is 130 years old but appears to be 18, the same age as her two daughters.  Medea works as a medium, giving seances and telling fortunes. Nikki works as a maid, rather than in the family witchcraft business. Nikki was born a Marilyn Monroe lookalike. Despite her beauty, jealousy eats away at Nikki because her mother and sister have magic.  Medea is tortured by a secret that can destroy the sisterly tie between her and Nikki. Unknown to her family, Nikki is developing a magical gift that she cannot control, a sorcery that will threaten Medea and pit two powerful sisters against each other. Nikki keeps seeing dead people.

Summary

Liliya, Dima’s third daughter, may be a hippy and a Natural Witch who dabbles in plants, but Liliya’s best friend is trouble. She has an unhealthy obsession with the weather, forcing the Romanovs to flee once again. The women finally move into a home that reflects their royal blood, a run-down mansion at the bottom of Witch Hill.  There is a portrait hanging in the house at Witch Hill. Thirteen-year-old Astra Romanov looks out of the picture with haunted eyes, but her grandmother dominates the picture. Dima is 180 years old but appears to be a teenager, proudly holding out in her hand a rare shape-shifting stone, allowing her to bathe like in the fountain of youth, while others except her age, including her three daughters.  Astra is half Native American. Her aunts, Medea and Nikki, tutor her as a third-generation witch. "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but humanity will never break me" - so claims the young witch, Astra, but she was born with a soft, human heart that even being an outcast won't harden. Astra has wolves as her only friends, until her family makes her befriend Amelia, a Catholic girl they have their eye on.  In New Mexico, the Land of Enchantment, the Romanovs will discover that they are not the only magical beings. And then there’s the danger of a fanatical branch of the Catholic Church.  Please note: The books in the series A Dysfunctional Family of Witches are stand-alones. The books can be listened to in any order. Each book comes to a conclusion, but the story of the Romanov witches continues through time.

Undying Witch

Summary

"I will live forever. If I could make you, my daughter, live longer than a human, I would. I do not want to be alone again."  A 97-year-old fortune-teller discovers the magic to be young and live forever. Dima, the illegitimate granddaughter of Catherine the Great, is doomed to live in poverty until she steals the four Starostavne books of magical spells, potions, and enchantments. Years later in Los Angeles, Dima's wild teenage daughter resents a 112-year-old mother who can shape-shift into the same age as she. Medea loathes Dima, who loves her 17 cats more than she does her rebellious daughter. Medea despises a mother who claims all witchcraft as her magic and treats her daughter like a slave. In secret, Medea develops her own sorcery.

Digital Girl

Summary

Jupiter stared at the mirror, which reflected a 12-year-old girl inside of a computer monitor; oh, heavens, the girl was her! Lightning crashes through the window and lights up the camera mounted on the computer. Gnomes escape through the camera hole and attack Jupiter with paper clips, ballpoint pens, and other office supplies. The computer gnomes want revenge because middle schooler, famous hacker, genius Jupiter blamed gnomes for eating her missing homework. Using magic, the gnomes shrink Jupiter into a tiny, digital girl. The computer gnomes then stuff her down the camera hole, where she swirls into the secret world of the computer, where the technology for a digital human is valuable on the dark web. A dangerous adventure is about to begin in a place where no human has ever gone before - a place where a computer virus can permanently delete a human, digital girl. Jupiter still thinks with a flat, human brain. A flat, human heart still beats in her chest, and she is running out of time.
