Summary
A reincarnation goes terribly wrong when Bill dies of a heart attack and his soul travels out of his body and into a newborn. But he mysteriously comes back to life, and the soul then splits in two and baby Lily gets half of the soul of Bill. The two share the same soul, and things get just a little whacky as she grows up. The reincarnation people try to get the two together to see what happens, and they succeed to find there’s a definite connection between the two. The one thing they have in common is horses, but she loves to ride them, and he loves to bet them. The two develop a strange bond when they finally meet, and Lily, against her parents’ wishes, wants Bill to be her grandad. Bill and Lily run into each other a few times, and Bill recommends she get a summer job at the race track where she can be around horses. Then, Bill gets odd notions about horses that are ready to win. He doesn’t know where it’s coming from, but he’s winning a lot. Lily eventually rides horses for a trainer and becomes a jockey. Summary
This story revolves around the life of a revolver. There are no main characters or supporting actors throughout the story. Instead, the revolver is the main focus as it travels from one owner to the next. The star of this feature is a pearl-handled .38 caliber snub-nosed revolver. We follow the weapon through its life in a small city somewhere in South Texas. Each owner of the .38 has a different approach to the gun’s purpose and use. As the gun passes through time, the story shows the different relationship of it to its owners. Sometimes, the weapon is for security or a tool of aggression or just for sport, but here, it is deadly every time.
