"The Shining dans un supermarché..." Floride, de nos jours. On dit qu'une disparition d'enfant se résout dans les 48 heures. Quarante-huit heures, c'est le temps qu'il faut pour investiguer, coller des affiches, frapper à toutes les portes, auditionner des témoins. Deux jours d'angoisse à retourner le monde en tous sens, pour faire réapparaître un gamin. Mais deux jours, c'est court. Pour Ben, l'attente dure depuis cinq ans, et ce jour où Éric, son petit frère de trois ans, a disparu dans le supermarché local. Une seconde d'inattention et l'enfant s'est volatilisé.
