B. & E.

Summary

The Incident: An interrupted burglary on a peaceful Milbrook street ends in the stabbing of a citizen and the murder of a cop. And that's only the beginning of a criminal nightmare for special investigator Whit Pynchon. The Invasion: Whit has good reason to believe that the bloody B. & E. is the latest in a rash of break-ins committed for the same reason: to steal firearms. Even worse, the culprits may be neo-Nazi terrorists, who rove through small towns like Milbrook, committing robberies as part of a larger, more treacherous plan. The Investigation: Even with the help of his lover, newspaper editor Anna Tyree, Whit has his hands full - with an obnoxious new police chief, a rabble-rousing minister, a pack of eager news hounds and the elusive killer thieves, whose vengeance is set to explode.

Summary

The Abduction: It's no laughing matter when a terrified three-year-old girl is kidnapped from Milbrook's Fun Time Day Care Center by a man in a clown mask. It's every parent's worst nightmare - and a delicate matter for Raven County's special investigator, Whit Pynchon. The Suspicion: The little girl's frantic mother is certain that her ex-husband is responsible and it looks as if Whit may have only a routine custody battle on his hands. But when a mysterious prowler begins stalking another child from the same day care center, Whit is convinced that the snatched toddler is facing a much uglier - and possibly deadly - fate. The Explosion: As the furor heats up - in the town, in the press, and in Whit's persona life - he and his lover, newspaper editor Anna Tyree, find themselves in the eye of the storm of controversy. With one child still missing and another in certain danger, Whit must double his efforts to unmask and capture a kidnapper who may be desperate enough to turn killer...

Night, Winter, and Death

Summary

Night

The town of Yocum Valley is in for the longest, darkest night it has ever known. A night that will make some doubt their sanity, and others fear for their lives. A night when the heinous curse of its tainted ancestry will rise, in the form of a living horror, to seek savage vengeance....

Winter

The beast will stalk during the coldest, cruelest winter on record, in a place that is frozen, snowbound...and trapped at the mercy of something unspeakable, with a taste for human flesh and a thirst for human blood....

Death

It’s waiting in the cold and dark to strike, again and again. And the terrified, disbelieving citizens are about to find themselves under siege - by something partly human partly animal...and completely deadly.
