The Baby Left Along the Oregon Trail & Rescued by Christian Pioneers

Summary

The Baby Left Along The Oregon Trail & Rescued By Christian Pioneers is a heart-warming story about a poor wagon train making its way along the Oregon Trail. The train may be poor but the Christians on it are strong. A Native American baby is found along the trail by one young man and he takes it immediately to the wagon train. There are no nursing mothers on the small train and no source of food for the infant. The young man and one experienced woman and one very young woman come to a unique solution to help the baby thrive and this has a Grapes of Wrath feel about it. Still, there are many obstacles both internal and external before they reach their destination.

Chastity, the Orphan & Mail Order Bride

Summary

Chastity, the Orphan & Mail Order Bride, is a story about a very feisty, intelligent and strong willed orphan, sent to Idaho as a mail order bride and to meet her future husband, a rancher from Germany. Leaving her alone because she is called to deliver a baby, her chaperone tells her to stay in the hotel lobby but she wants to explore the small town and ends up in the saloon. Just in time her future husband shows up and they immediately get off on the wrong foot. Along with that she also has no clue as to what will be expected of her as a rancher's wife. She prefers the early game of baseball and Shakespeare and geography, over milking a cow and cooking for a man with a reputation for wooing all of the ladies in town.

Along the Oregon Trail: Mary and Baby Joseph Meet Henry, Jack of All Trades

Summary

This story is about hope and love and trust and the wonder of life. Mary and her baby, Joseph, have very little as they continue along the Oregon Trail toward a new life. Her husband was killed in an attack before their journey and she does her best to provide for her son, by herself, until a mysterious character joins the train. Even though he also has precious little other than his tools, he tells her that the Lord will provide if she has faith in Him. Bartering his services for things like food and a bright red sweater, Mary grows closer to Henry as their journey progresses. The latter makes toys for the baby and shares his bounty with Mary. The emotional ending of this story highlights how every human being has it within them to be generous within their souls, and that love can come easily, both for others and God.

Abandoned by the Wagon Train

Summary

Abandoned by the Wagon Train is about a teacher who needs to find a new job because her schoolhouse is being torn down. Looking in the newspaper to see what might be available - anywhere - she spots an ad for both a schoolteacher in California and a mail order bride wanted by the same store owner who placed the ad. Chancing it, she writes to him and then deciding to risk it all she packs up her things and heads out west on a wagon train. She is suddenly wrenched away from the path that God has chosen for her when, one evening, her life takes a violent U-turn.
