Summary

Firefighter Michael McGinnis is no stranger to intense situations. Veteran of New York's Ladder 21 Company as a search and rescue man, he has seen his share of burning infernos, high-rise saves, and intense emergency situations. Despite McGinnis' years on the job, nothing can prepare him for getting tangled in his brother's mistakes as a drug addict and gambler, especially when a bloodthirsty bookie gets involved. A romance sparks between him and fellow paramedic, Eva Crisante, catching him even more off guard. Morals are tested, lies are told, and relationships are built and then torn to ruins. The problems ahead are more challenging than any fire McGinnis has experienced. He learns that bravery is not only needed in his job with the department, but also in dire situations away from work. His tough love for his brother is tested, proving that there truly are things more dangerous than a five-alarm fire.

Summary

For fans of Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale It was a normal election year. There were two top candidates, and the American people left with a choice to make: stay with the incumbent or elect the challenger, Alfred Millstone. Charlie Cooper proudly voted for Millstone. The man had answers to all of the country’s problems, so when his choice wins, he’s thrilled, until the new president reveals his evil side as soon as he’s sworn into office.  Millstone’s dictator-like decrees soon fly in the face of the freedom Charlie and his girlfriend, Annie, have always taken for granted. Nobody is safe from the watchful eye of Millstone’s officials. Outrageous rules are implemented, and people’s constitutional rights are violated. Those who do not follow the new rules and laws are labeled as "Defiants" and are put on disciplinary levels. Each level has stricter consequences, including criminal sentences leading up to execution. With the Millstone administration’s power growing rapidly, freedom becomes a relic of the past. Charlie desperately struggles to save his family from a dark and deadly future he never imagined could be possible in the land of the free.

Blizzard Warning

Summary

Ryan's predictions of the weather in the Harper Springs area have all been accurate so far - when he realizes they are in for an early winter, everyone must work fast to get the crops harvested and their shelter ready for the arctic air headed their way. Due to the lack of winter clothing and supplies, they can't prepare for the heavy snowfall, high winds, blizzards, and sub-zero temperatures that leave them exposed to hypothermia, frostbite, and common colds that are now turning deadly. The weather isn't their only problem - an imminent threat from a band of looters circles the perimeter of Harper Springs, halting their plans of rebuilding the small town. Ryan grows leery of people he once trusted and begins to investigate the possibility of a traitor among their group. He secretly follows the suspicious person toward the badlands of New Mexico to gather evidence and prove that his suspicions are justified. Throughout the constant changing weather, Ryan has asked the same question - why has this happened? Tracking the traitor might get him the answers he needs - or it could reveal a problem so massive that there is no coming back from the damage that has already taken place.

Wayward Souls

Summary

Nathan Gallagher thought the ghosts were gone. He did everything they demanded, aiding in their souls passing on to the other side. But it's not over for him - new visions appear and they're not leaving until he helps them. Ignoring them only makes them more hostile, pushing Nathan and his son Rusty into a supernatural world of violence and uncertainty that edges them to the breaking point. Realizing the ghosts won't go away, Nathan begins to listen to what they need. It requires Dr. Clint - his missing-in-action therapist from before, and a self-admission to Sunset Canyon - the mental hospital that Nathan fears and swore he'd never return to. Sacrificing everything, Nathan hopes to reveal corruption that stems as far back as the 1800s. He's labeled a high-risk patient and thrown into a wing of the hospital where the most brutal patients are locked up, away from society - only to be forgotten and beaten. With time running out, he and Dr. Clint must come up with a plan to gather indisputable evidence that will vindicate the souls who sought his help. Without it, he'll be stuck in the mental hospital forever, becoming a wayward soul himself.
