In Julian's version, Man is not to blame for his sin; instead it is something that he must experience and overcome in his spiritual journey with God. The version of Christian theology presented in Revelations of Divine Love - the first published book in English attributed to a woman - was highly liberal and incredibly progressive for its time. It appears from her writings that she was born in 1343 and died after 1416. The visions appeared to her over two nights when she was gravely ill. After her miraculous recovery, she described and reflected upon the 16 visions. Her theology is one of love and mercy, which has inspired and comforted many believers down the ages. Revelations of Divine Love is celebrated as the earliest extant book in English written by a woman.
