Summary

Gem Stone Swenson wants her life back. Dominated by her big-shot husband, meddling mother, and demanding teenaged daughters - not to mention everybody else in her hoity-toity world - the 40-year-old socialite escapes into memories of a madcap road trip she and her hippie sister, Garnet, took 20 years earlier. It was the summer of 1978, the summer Gem fell in love with Harley, a small-town deputy sheriff. She fantasizes about once again running her fingers through his thick, black hair. Do his jeans still hug his buns in a way that melts her knees? There's only one way to find out.
