The idealized childhood of this fictional hero, based on Mark Twain's own early life along the banks of the Mississippi, is filled with robust good humor and high-spirited adventures. Yet there is also an in-depth experience of the central South of the 1840s - its dialects, superstitions, and social values. While romping through fun-filled fantasy, Tom Sawyer shows how morally complicated real life can be. In his unabridged reading of the American classic, actor Patrick Fraley crafts 36 authentic "voices" to represent the wide range of Twain's delightful characters.

This delightful collection of lesser-known gems by Mark Twain begins with the story of a town called Hadleyburg, which prides itself on the honesty of its citizens. One day a citizen of Hadleyburg offends a stranger passing through, who vows to take his revenge by revealing just how corruptible the sanctimonious town really is. Twain is at his best here, poking fun at common hypocrisy as the self-satisfied pillars of the community are done in by their own greed. Other stories in the collection include: "The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County", "The One Million Pound Bank Note", "Edward Mills and George Benton: A Tale", "The Stolen White Elephant",l "Cannibalism in the Cars", "The Man Who Put Up at Gadsby's", "The Story of the Good Little Boy", "The Story of the Bad Little Boy", "Baker's Blue Jay Yarn: What Stumped the Blue Jays", and "A Double Barreled Detective Story".

This a handpicked collection of some of the greatest Christian stories ever written. Many were written by the most celebrated authors of all time - such as Leo Tolstoy, Mary Twain, and Johanna Spyri. When we speak of these works as Christian stories, we mean that each story has a powerful Christian message based on Jesus' teachings. Three of the stories are from Jesus himself. Others were written by devout believers like Henry Van Dyke and Johanna Spyri. Yet, one of the authors, Mark Twain, was not a Christian himself. Leo Tolstoy radically embraced the teachings of Jesus, but he struggled most of his life with orthodox Christian doctrines. Yet, the stories included herein from both Twain and Tolstoy reveal profound insights into the teachings of Christ. Among the unabridged works contained in this compilation are: "The Other Wise Man" by Henry Van Dyke "Moni, the Goat Boy" by Johanna Spyri "How Much Land Does a Man Need?" by Leo Tolstoy "The Silver Mine" by Selma Lagerlof "The War Prayer" by Mark Twain "Where Love Is, God Is" by Leo Tolstoy "The Little Hero of Holland" by Mary Mapes Dodge "Androcles and the Lion" (Traditional) "A Spark Neglected Burns the House" by Leo Tolstoy

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court tells the story of Hank Morgan, a 19th-century American - a Connecticut Yankee - who, after a blow to the head, awakens to find himself inexplicably transported back in time to early medieval England at the time of the legendary King Arthur. The story begins in Warwick Castle, where a man details his recollection of a tale told to by a "curious stranger" who is personified as a knight through his simple language and familiarity with ancient armor. After a brief tale of Sir Lancelot of Camelot and his role in slaying two giants from the third-person narrative, the man named Hank Morgan enters and, after being given whiskey by the narrator, he is persuaded to reveal more of his story.

One of the greatest treats in all world literature, this masterpiece from Mark Twain is revolutionary. It offers both brilliant humor and tragedy as Huck and Jim explore moral dilemmas of slavery and freedom. Huck, the narrator, is shrewd, ingenious, and literal--he reports on everything he sees, which allows the listener to experience the hypocrisy of "sivilization." This superb reading by Patrick Fraley is rich in the color and adventurous spirit of the Mississippi River. It captures the world and people that Mark Twain knew and loved.

![Cover art for El Principe y el Mendigo [The Prince and the Pauper]](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/51Tpm8gJWvL._SL500_.jpg)

The hit on the head that sends Hank Morgan back through 13 centuries does not affect his natural resourcefulness. Using his knowledge of an upcoming eclipse, Hank escapes a death sentence, and secures an important position at court. Gradually, he introduces 19th century technology and soon has an easy life. He becomes "The Boss" of the Kingdom, second only to the King. That does not stop him from making a disparaging remark which touches off an incredible series of events. Twain weaves many of the well-known Arthurian characters into his story, and includes a pitched battle between Morgan's men and the nobility. This is Mark Twain at his best.
