What Lies in the Hills

Summary

Once again, Josh Baker and Eddie Debord find themselves among the hills, hollows, and rivers of West Virginia in yet another fast paced adventure mystery! What started out as a quiet week of camping during a beautiful “Indian Summer” over Thanksgiving break - ends up as an inexplicable week of suspense, mystery, adventure, and intrigue.  The boys are the first responders to a crashed airplane deep within the woods. It doesn’t take long to find out that this C-47 Skytrain had gone down in 1953 and was carrying a very mysterious and highly sensitive cargo. Very quickly, the CIA takes control of the crash site as Josh and Eddie find themselves under the microscope of the agency. There are men in dark clothing watching them from around every corner. They seek the help of some familiar friends and some new acquaintances as well, while trying to find out what this mysterious cargo is and why it is still so important today. Thinking the CIA could be their worst nightmare, the boys could not have been more wrong. Who comes to town next will stop at nothing to reclaim what they say is theirs, and they are quick to prove it! Ultimately, Josh, Eddie, and Brad must decide whether to let this one go, or to once again risk their lives to see it through. One thing is for sure...they cannot allow the cargo to fall into the wrong hands! Be careful wishing for big adventures…one may find you!

River Rocks: A West Virginia Adventure Novel

Summary

Set in rural Appalachia, River Rocks is a riveting coming-of-age tale of two boys, their friends, and a 100-year-old local legend of Confederate gold buried somewhere in the hills that surround their home. The gold was the result of an unsolved 1903 train robbery mystery, which liberated the US government of their prized "Southern Jewel". The old legend takes on a new life as Josh Baker and Eddie Debord discover the illusive clue that begins to lead them on the adventure of a lifetime! In their quest, the boys find themselves drifting downriver on a homemade raft, biking down old railroad beds, hiking hills, exploring hidden and forbidden hollows, and attempting to locate key old-timers who can help them put this puzzle together. Add to the mix a fog shrouded river island, a hermit of a mountain man, a knowledgeable but mysterious retired investigative reporter.... It becomes clear there is no honor among thieves! Suspense prevails throughout the story as they move closer and closer to their target, and in the end, it could cost them much more than just a couple weeks of their summer vacation. Remember.... Be careful wishing for big adventures.... One may find you!

What Lies in the Sea

Summary

The year was 1715. A Treasure Fleet comprised of 11 Spanish ships and one French vessel was blown onto the reefs off of the east-central coast of Florida by a massive hurricane. Eleven of the 12 vessels were dismasted, broken like kindling, and sent to the seafloor in less than 20 feet of water.  Fast-forward to 1973; Captain Henderson and his mate, Butch Dawson, while on a dreadful nighttime run to the reef, inadvertently locate some well-preserved ribs of a 16th-century vessel off the coast of Cape Canaveral. Between those heavy wooden beams lay a king's fortune. The trouble for Henderson and Dawson began immediately and the treasure recovery had to wait - for 45 more years.  Leap ahead to current day; Josh Baker, Giselle O’Connor, and Eddie Debord are rolling south in Eddie's fully restored VW Bus. After repairing a small issue with an accelerator cable, they met a young man with a story - a story from 1973. A tale of treasure made credible by his possession of a single gold Spanish Escudo left for him by his grandfather. The action begins and never stops in this fast-paced land and sea treasure-hunt adventure. The friends are relentlessly pursued by a couple of blundering criminals as well as the casino-controlling Florida Mafia, which wants a piece of their action as well. Josh, Eddie, and their new friends can seemingly never catch a break as they try to help locate and recover the lost cargo they have signed rights to excavate…but as always, it seems others don’t play by the rules!  “Once again, be careful wishing for big adventures.... One may find you!”

What Lies in the Keys

Summary

After a harrowing escape from two thug wannabes and the casino controlling Florida Mafia last year, Nick Dawson and Brad Radcliffe were able to locate the Nuestra Senora de la Concepcion of the 1715 Spanish Treasure Fleet. Now they are being commissioned to do it again.  A former New York City investment advisor regales them with an old sea story from his father, and tangible proof of his claim. It seems the tag-along French vessel, Griffon, survived the massive 1715 hurricane and, after doing so, seemed to have changed its mission. While returning to Havana for repairs Captain d’Aire dropped treasure in four locations throughout the Florida Keys, leaving clues from one to the next.  Brad and Nick initiate their search, but the real trouble starts when Nick and his buddies realize the Florida Mafia has not forgiven nor forgotten their little skirmish from last year. Brad and Nick summon help from their friends, Josh Baker and Eddie Debord to locate the treasure but while digging with one hand, the team finds themselves in a non-stop battle to fend off bad guys with the other.   With a full cast of interesting characters, it’s a gripping sea story of adventure, greed, vengeance, and desperation! The treasure hunters want the Queens Dowry while their new friend is looking for vengeance for the death of his father. The mob just wants them all dead.  Be careful wishing for big adventures.... One may find you....
