Mythical

Summary

An urban fantasy short Marcus is venturing out of his permanent shelter to check the day's traps and possibly hunt seals on the ice, when he discovers a nearly dead, young female whale researcher out on the ice alone and unconscious. After bringing her back from the frozen brink, she reveals some disturbing details of an armed takeover of her research facility, sounding like the earmarks of a terrorist attack, though nothing up here was of any strategic or political value. Upon inspecting the scene for himself, Marcus uncovers an ongoing struggle that has lasted for thousands of years, much worse than any terror plot, holding mankind's future in the balance. With time running out, limited resources, and only a frozen stranger to help, he must stop a terrible bloodline of ancient tyrants and evil men bent on world domination and total destruction, before they kill the last magical creatures on Earth.

Summary

What if, in our endless drive to tame new lands, we provoked a response from nature itself? What if nature designed a creature to take on the most dangerous species on the planet? What if that design was meant to replace us at the top of the food chain? Could we stop it, or would nature forcibly take its planet back?

Breaking the Cycle

Summary

An offshoot species of a parasite, normally only found in amphibians, has evolved to include humans in its bizarre, three-stage life cycle, which causes the host to grow extra limbs and other body parts. Is there a way to break the cycle and stop the decline of the human race, or will phobia, paranoia, and fear blind us and seal our fate? Humans have settled into the remains of the cities, leaving the outlying suburbs and rural areas to those afflicted by the parasite. A field biologist in another life, Mike has to find a way to break the parasite's life cycle, before the human species is erased from the planet.
