The concept of soil-less gardening or hydroponics has been around for thousands of years. Consider the hanging gardens of Babylon, probably the earliest example of hydroponic gardening. In the 1970s, General Hydroponics (GH), the largest supplier of specialized chemical nutrients was born. NASA team up with GH and sent plants and nutrients to the international space station to study plant growth outside the earth's atmosphere, and how to best supply food and oxygen for future colonization missions in space. Dr. Franco Massantini pioneered the aeroponic method of hydroponic gardening. In the 1980s Dr. Hillel Soffer developed the aero-hydroponic method which helped transform the desert into an oasis of bounty. The Epcot Center at Disneyworld introduced "Living With The Land", a futuristic ride through hydroponic "gardens of tomorrow". Hydroponic gardening came of age in the 1990s when many more advances in soil-free growing were accomplished, including aeroponics and aquaponics. In aeroponics, a fine mist of nutrient solution is constantly sprayed onto roots for extremely vigorous growth. Aquaponics combines fish farming (aquaculture), and hydroponics by growing fish in a reservoir which in turn feed the plants with their excretions. Now, over a decade into the 21st century, there is concern over our food supply, our water supply and the diminished availability of land that can be used for agriculture. There will be incredible advances as hydroponic gardening continues to be an important consideration in agriculture. For a gardener, growing plants in a controlled setting is a blessing because it would mean better results, and may be even the best harvest ever!

At last, help for home food gardeners. The simple, month-by-month layout of Don't Throw in the Trowel will help gardeners grow a bounty of vegetables, fruits, and herbs. Grow luscious tomatoes, zucchini, cucumbers, melons, and more, and enjoy all the fresh produce (and give the surplus to family and friends) that your garden grows using these easy tips. Don't Throw In the Trowel!: Vegetable Gardening Month by Month is fun for every locavore who wants to cart tomatoes out of the garden by the wagonful. Even if you've never been a farmer or a gardener before, this vegetable gardening audiobook covers everything you need to know to get started. Here you can find specific information about starting seeds, transplanting, mulching, organic fertilizers, dealing with pest and disease problems, compost, and of course, information about different vegetables and helpful advice on how to grow them. You can also find information about square foot gardening, beneficial insects (and insect pests), easy ways to keep weeds down, and ways to extent the growing season into the winter months using cold frames and floating row covers. What's more, the methods used in this audiobook are those to save time (and save your poor back and joints). Gardening can hurt sometimes - as the author can attest after having been felled by a bad back during her horticulture days. This audiobook is full of ways to keep you from ending up the way she did. Many organic methods actually help make gardening easier. For instance, putting down a thick layer of mulch early in the year helps you keep weeds down, reduce watering, add organic matter to the soil, and keep the plants cool in the summer heat. Grow heirloom vegetables for a reliable, colorful crop - and you can keep using the seeds from these plants years after year. Most of all, this audiobook also leads you on a month-by-month tour of the vegetable garden, so you can keep up with what needs to be done this month - and look ahead so you can be ready for next month. It’s always good to grow your own vegetables, especially with concerns about how far grocery store produce is shipped, concerns about the environment, and concerns about the future. But there’s also a new understanding of how good it is to get outside and work with plants, and how delicious those first sun-warmed tomatoes are, and how good a newly picked strawberry tastes, and how astonished your toddler is when she pulls up her first carrot. There’s nothing on earth that can beat that.

Aeroponics is a method of growing cannabis plants that uses no medium for the roots. It’s a style of hydroponic gardening where the roots are suspended in the air as the nutrients and water are delivered via a system that continually mists the roots. This growth method was first discovered as a way to study plants’ root systems in the first half of the 20th century. Initially, there was no thought to utilizing aeroponics beyond root-based research, but this changed over the years, and aeroponics has since become a respectable and beneficial way to cultivate plants. As mentioned, aeroponics works by suspending the roots in the air and applying nutrients and water with a fine mist. The dissolved nutrients in the water in combination with the water itself, sunlight, CO2, and oxygen are enough to keep a cannabis plant healthy and thriving as long as the roots continuously receive moisture. To accomplish this, aeroponic systems have a specific setup. The system is composed of two main features: the reservoir and the planter bed. The reservoir is where the water supply is stored and checked for quality and nutrient levels and the planter bed is where the plants are grown. Planter beds can come in many designs, but their foremost features include a misting system, drainage system, and a system for supporting and separating the roots from the plant. Finally, to connect the two, pumps are used to continuously exchange the water. To start, a seedling grown in a medium (for example, a rockwool cube) will be placed in net cup pots that separate the inside and outside of the planter bed. A collar is then placed around the base of the stalk. This collar helps to prevent the mist in the bed from evaporating or molding the stalk while protecting the roots from getting infected or damaged. From this point, the roots will grow out of the rockwool and through the net cup while the plant grows upward away from the bed. The water used to feed the new plants is delivered through water lines with spray nozzle attachments that insert into the planter bed. When coming out of the nozzles, the water is made into a fine mist that then blankets the root systems of the plant. The excess moisture collects on the bottom of the planter bed and drains back into the reservoir to be recycled. It should be noted that some systems are designed to use the bottom of the planter bed as the reservoir and then pump the water directly back into the water lines. This style will work fine; however, it is more difficult to check the reservoir without disrupting the roots. Aeroponics allows plants to be placed closer together as they are not fighting for soil territory. The lack of soil also makes for quick and easy harvests and prevents pests commonly associated with soil from ever entering your cannabis grow space. Finally, aeroponics uses a very limited amount of water as all the water not being taken in by the plants is recycled. Want to know more? Buy the audiobook now!

Before you can start making extracts, there are a few things that you need to know. Basic terms: The terms that are listed here are the terms that are going to be used to describe the consistency of your extract; however, you may realize that some of these terms are also used when looking at the name of the extract. Live resin: this is the extract that you will take from a fresh plant rather than a dried plant Crumble: chunks of dried extract or plant Shatter: an extract that is hard and candy-like Wax: extract that is stretchy and going to stick together even after it has cooled Cannabis extracts Many of the extracts that we are going to discuss in this section are going to be listed later on in the audiobook with the process in which you are going to be able to follow to make that particular extract. Kief: A powdery dust that can be smoked on its own but is going to burn quickly. Hash: Substantial chunks of extract. One of the oldest methods known for making extracts. Bubble hash: The same as the regular hash. The process for making bubble hash is one of the safest out there. ISO Hash (Isopropyl alcohol): A mix between a tarry oil and shatter. Be careful with this one because there may be a hint of chemicals left over in your extract. BHO (Butane Hash oil): This oil will be somewhere between a waxy oil all the way up to a hard shatter. You should always test your BHO before you smoke it to make sure there is no butane left over on the extract. CO2 Oil: Your result for CO2 oil will be either a liquid you use for a vape pen or wax. This is one of the more costly techniques for making extracts. Budder: Soft butter like substance that will crumble. Your budder may yield a lower THC content than other methods that you can use. Tincture: This is going to result in a concoction of alcohol and cannabinoids. Tinctures are typically used for medicine due to the use of food grade alcohol being used in the extraction process. Rosin: You will either get a clean oil or a shatter like substance with the rosin extraction process. Due to the fact that it gives a decent product, rosin is one of the more popular methods to use when making extracts. Rick Simpson Oil (RSO): A stick tar is going to be left over from the process once you have finished it. RSO contains a higher level of cannabinoids and is found to be effective as a topical ointment.
