Dom Joly was born in Beirut and lived there until he was 18. He lived through the civil war, went to school with Osama Bin Laden, and learned to ski and speak French and Arabic. At the age of seven he was sent to an English boarding school, where he would spend term times before returning to his war-torn home. It was a schizophrenic existence. Dom's parents divorced when he was 18, and he moved permanently to the UK, becoming a diplomat, a political journalist and then famous as a man who dressed as a giant squirrel. He has been back to Lebanon only twice since. Then he read about an attempt to encourage tourism in this long-suffering country: The Lebanon Mountain Trail. This is a hiking trail that runs from the Syrian border in the north of Lebanon, along the spine of the country's mountain range all the way to the Israeli border in the south. The trail takes 30 days to complete. Dom immediately decided that he must hike the trail in 2018, the year of his 50th birthday, and invited two friends along. Essentially this is a bonding adventure that just so happens to take place right in the middle of the most important geopolitical region of our times. The Hezbollah Hiking Club is a funny, heartwarming travel book full of insight into the Middle East, religion, friendship and growing old disgracefully.... It's three men on a camel...without the camel.

Dom Joly sets off round the world again, but this time he's not looking to holiday in a danger zone - he's monster hunting. Ever since he was given a copy of Arthur C. Clarke's Mysterious World for his ninth birthday Dom has been obsessed with the world of cryptozoology (monster hunting), and in Scary Monsters and Super Creeps he heads to six completely different destinations to investigate local monster sightings. He explores the Redwood Curtain in northern California in search of Sasquatch; in Canada he visits Lake Okanagan hoping to catch a glimpse of a thirty-foot snake-like creature called Ogopogo; and near Lake Tele in Congo he risks his life tracking the vegetarian sauropod Mokele-mbembe. Naturally he heads to Loch Ness - but for this hunt he has his family in tow; he treks across the Khumbu Valley in Nepal looking for Yeti; and in the hills above Hiroshima in Japan he enlists the help of a local man to find the Hibagon, a terribly smelly 'caveman ape'. In typically hilarious and irreverent fashion, Dom explores the cultures that gave rise to these monster myths and ends up in some pretty hairy situations with people even stranger than the monsters they are hunting.

"The series shines a harsh light on the ugly realities of working in the cruise ship industry, but in this latest book, these hardships are secondary to the woman Bruns endures them for. With a candid, no-muss style, Bruns shows just how smitten he and Bianca are with one another, though they're not without their jokes and stubborn streaks. Beneath the playful jabs and willful tempers is a force of gravity that binds them, even when the waves get rough. Humorous and heartfelt, this book explores the depths one man will dive to for the woman he loves. This daring spirit resonates throughout the narrative, ringing true for anyone who's ever defied his circumstances and demanded something more." (Foreword Magazine) Silver — Paris Book Festival Bronze — London Book Festival Bronze — Hollywood Book Festival Winner — USA Best Book Awards Book of the Year, Humor finalist — Foreword Magazine Book of the Year, Travel/Essay finalist — Foreword Magazine In the Cruise Confidential series, Brian David Bruns spills the dirt — or in this case, the dirty water — on those romantic, fun-filled vacations at sea. His hilarious chronicle of the years he spent working on cruise ships takes listeners down into the areas where the crew works and lives, leaving listeners gasping with laughter as they’re assaulted nonstop with events that range from the absurd to the utterly bizarre. “This man has seen it all!” (Deborah Roberts, ABC 20/20) “Bruns' prose…proves his steady and deliberate writing voice.” (Writer’s Digest) “This is a very funny, behind-the-scenes exploration of a cruise ship.” (Booklist) “The real party is going on in the crew’s quarters.” (USA Today) “I found it absolutely hysterical!” (Peter Greenberg, Today Show) “Part Love Boat, part Mutiny on the Bounty, Cruise Confidential does for cruising what Animal House did for higher education.” (J. Maarten Troost, New York Times best seller) “Cruise Confidential is a deliciously addictive read, a blistering kiss-and-tell about the dysfunctional life working on cruise ships.” (Doug Lansky, Travel Channel) “These hilarious misadventures at sea will shock and delight any buffet-ready cruise traveler.” (Jen Leo, author of Sand in my Bra) “The funniest travel book I’ve read in years.” (Peter Mandel, author of My Ocean Liner) “This is a really entertaining true tale by a guy who struggles through the bizarre world of cruise ship employment. Bruns paints a clear picture of ‘how the sausage is made’.” (San Francisco Chronicle) “I couldn’t put it down.” (Chicago Sun-Times) “Cruise Confidential is a juicy tell-all. The crew deals with the ‘sweatshop’ conditions by indulging in massive amounts of alcohol and sex.” (Cleveland Plain Dealer) “Bruns doesn’t hold back when it comes to discussing his experience of working on cruise ships.” (Thomas Cook Magazine, UK) “Witty and self-deprecating [Bruns] has a flair for dialogue, and his book is chock full of wacky characters…” (Blogcritics Magazine) “The people you see on cruises and the attraction of high-class luxury makes Unsinkable Mister Brown a read that shouldn’t be missed.” (Midwest Book Review)

From the critically acclaimed best-selling author of Bee Season comes a travelogue through the magical and historic city of Prague, a city of vast beauty and wonderfully intimate detail. In Time's Magpie, Myla Goldberg uses her eye for the wonder of tiny objects and everyday things to put us in touch with the essence of this haunting and fantastical place. Goldberg takes us through the city's historic streets, some eerily transformed by the devastating flood of 2002; to Lunapark, home to bumper cars, go-carts, and a discomfiting array of Technicolor confections; and through Strahov Monastery, where the cabinets of curiosity display everything from butterfly specimens to a supposedly real jabberwocky. We attend an anti-war protest in Old Town square and watch the skateboarders do tricks on a ramped marble pedestal that once held a statue of Lenin.

Montreal is the largest city in the Quebec province. While Quebec City is the capital, Montreal is the cultural and economic center, and the main entry point to the province. With 1.7 million citizens in the city proper and four million in the urban area, Montreal is Canada's second largest city, and the second-largest French-speaking (as a mother language) city in the world, behind Paris. Still, a quarter of the population speak English as a mother language, and most Francophones are conversant in English. Old Montreal has a heritage of colonial times. Though a large city, Montreal gives opportunities for outdoor life, as well as watching the legendary Montreal Canadiens ice hockey team.

Outfitted with a pair of ratty sand shoes and a knapsack full of trade goods, Eric Hansen set off to cross the rainforest of Borneo, one of the last places on earth largely untouched by Western civilization. For seven months Hansen hunted wild pig, gathered roots, and lived among tribes whose longhouses were still decorated with the headhunting swords of their ancestors, completing one of the great adventures of our time.
