Reagan's Journey

Summary

Today, the name Ronald Reagan is synonymous with great leadership. He led by example at a time when few thought it possible, and against the advice of experts, he went to the Berlin Wall and demanded it be torn down. He worked at keeping up the morale of his fellow citizens in honoring the sacrifices at Pointe du Hoc in Normandy, relighting the Statue of Liberty, and giving a magnificent speech for America's children on the occasion of the Challenger disaster.  In the face of a tremendous personal crisis, he maintained a positive attitude. The world watched in wonder and amazement as he joked his way through the assassination attempt that very nearly killed him. And above all else, in his signature style - friendly, avuncular, easygoing - from the Oval Office, in auditoriums large and small, and on his Saturday radio programs, he communicated with us. Please join me in exploring Reagan’s journey.

He’ll have to face off against dangers from within and without in order to rescue those he cares about after a failed assassination attempt.   Gavin must rally what’s left of his close circle - and his strength - to face enemies on a scale he’s never encountered. Summary

Two friends. A few airships. One shadowy group. A phenomenal ride through a new world rich in action and adventure. In a land of elemental magic and Learner Skill, a gripping tale of two friends who narrowly avoid death while attending the school under the mountain takes place. As both are forced to flee before finishing their studies, they must unravel and attempt to thwart a plot to plunge their homeland into war after ages of peace. Balteris is an enormous peninsula with an impassable causeway leading to an unknown land. The seas around it are filled with mysterious and deadly creatures keeping the inhabitants penned into the region. Naturals, people who have an inborn talent for elemental manipulation make up a portion of the otherwise regular population. But an even smaller percent of the people study Skill, and are therefore called Learners. This study allows the Learner to manipulate raw willpower into a powerful energy force. Two of these people, Nil, a Learner, and Volant, a Natural, are forced to abandon their respective studies to save their own lives and uncover a mysterious group that has been slowly plotting to turn Balteris' five city-states into war-mongering kingdoms. Along the way, they must learn to survive, grow in their powers, and fight back against the government who thinks they helped murder their classmates.

The Daughters of the Darkness

Summary

"We often look to escape the everyday by seeking out the dark places where something monstrous waits in the void. Luke Phillips takes you there, where man is still well and truly on the menu." (Shannon Legro, host of Into the Fray radio podcast) 1898, East Africa. The Tsavo man-eaters kill 130 people over the course of nine months. The unusually large, pale-coloured, and maneless male lions mark history in what became known as their reign of terror. Now, history is repeating itself. A new pride of killers has arrived in Tsavo, staking out their own bloody legacy. One that includes the murdered wife of conservationist and former hunter Thomas Walker. Torn between the newfound happiness he has discovered in the Highlands of Scotland with his new fiancée and his loyalty to the man whose brother has been taken by the man-eaters, Thomas must face his past and creatures feared as myth by his friend and the people of Kenya. Arriving in Africa, Thomas finds the situation worsening as a local arms dealer and war lord declares the "critters of the bush" are under his command to drive those not loyal to him from the land. With everything not as it seems, the odds are stacked against Thomas and the small band of friends trying to restore balance to the region and its wildlife.

Dawning: Nine Realms Saga

Summary

It’s a story as old as time. Cain and Abel, Adam and Eve. A family. A murder. A reckoning. Good and evil personified. You may think you know the story, but you’d be wrong. After thousands of years, Cain awakens to find that the world has gone on without him. In his slumber, humans and people of power have stopped being afraid of, well, anything. Beyond that, they’ve become cruel for cruelty’s sake, fascinated with their ability to spread death through famine, war, and even plagues. In their minds, they have no equal.  They’re wrong. Thanks to the Norns, his brother’s treachery, his sadistic stepmother, and abusive father, Cain has been out of the loop far too long. But that’s about to change. Now, he must reconcile his past with his present and complete a near-impossible task to find the peace he’s sought for so long. Before that can be a reality, he’ll need to walk the fine line between monster and man. Too much of one and not the other will release a plague upon the world. And there will be blood. Lots of it. Can he fight his baser nature long enough to do what needs to be done, or will fate get the better of him in the end?

Summary

We just lost our place at the top of the food chain. Man is just meat. It is only when the bones of its prey are discovered in a remote Scottish glen that the majesty and power of one of nature’s most successful predators is truly revealed. As it strikes silently from the shadows and on nights shrouded in darkness, a small village falls under siege to a remarkable creature. For thousands of years mankind has had the upper hand but now - suddenly, violently, bloodily - the balance of power has shifted.  When an isolated wildlife research centre launches an investigation, it is soon discovered that something out of place has made the Highlands its home and set its sights on the quiet village of Cannich. It will hunt, it will kill, and it won’t let anything get in its way. Thomas Walker, a renowned wildlife specialist and former big game hunter, finds himself confronted with his past and an animal the likes of which he had never wanted to face again. As its devastating rampage goes unchecked and threatens his home, the woman he loves and his very way of life, an older and much more human adversary seeks him out. How long will any of them survive the presence of the beast in their shadow?  There are nearly 2,000 reported sightings of what have become known as mystery big cats across the UK every year. Some, such as the beasts of Bodmin and Dartmoor, have become infamous. Their origin and identity remain unknown. Shadow Beast, the new chiller from Luke Phillips, offers a terrifying and deadly explanation.
