My Brother's Finder, My Brother's Keeper

Summary

In 1999, Macey Lee Baker is a real estate saleswoman in Capwater, Florida; happy in her Christian faith and in her marriage to her husband, Kyle. She's many miles and a lifetime away from her impoverished, rural upbringing in the farming community of Mountain Rose, Ohio. But when Macey Lee's sister Betsy suggests they go back to Ohio to visit siblings, a terrible memory surfaces…the death of their 10-year-old brother Jeremy back in 1954. And with that memory comes another long-buried thought…that their brother's death was no accident.  In 1954, Macey Lee's missing brother was found in a neighbor's cattle pond, naked and lifeless, his clothes tidily folded up in a pile nearby. And though the authorities deemed it an accidental drowning, Macey Lee's devastated mother knew in her heart that her shy little boy, who couldn't swim, would never have stripped naked to go into the pond and that he certainly wouldn't have folded up his clothes so nicely. Even as she'd gone to her grave, years later, she'd been convinced that there was more to the story. And now that Macey Lee is back in Ohio, she becomes determined to solve the mystery at last.  As Ohio's balmy, beautiful summer turns into the icy blizzards of winter, Macey Lee takes time away from her career and her marriage to get to the bottom of the mystery that has always nagged at the back of her mind. She and Betsy begin questioning townspeople about their memories of that terrible day in 1954.  With every step into their investigation, Macey Lee and Betsy bump up against dead ends; lost police records, witnesses changing stories, and missing evidence.

Twin Mysteries at the Old Post Office: A Sequel to My Brother's Finder, My Brother's Keeper

Summary

Sisters Macey Lee Baker and Betsy Marie Cotter, along with Little Buddy and Marti Dog, the two furry friends, are tangled in another mystery. They are asked by the local historian to try and solve a mystery surrounding the old 1840s post office building next door to the café owned and operated by Macey Lee. Enter Sterling Hopewell, awaiting his death sentencing for that crime he committed when he was just a teenager in the nearby community of Mountain Rose, Ohio, in 1954. Not ever having a relationship with God, Sterling paces his cell, wondering if there is any chance that God would hear him after all the evil he had done. He felt he deserved to die if he killed that good little boy, but he could not remember doing it. Facing death all alone in a small cell gave him time to think about his youthful days and wonder why he did the things he did. Asked to find the mystery surrounding the old post office, Macey Lee wonders if it ties in with Sterling Hopewell. Could it all be coincidence or twin mysteries? Her family insists it isn't possible, but she is not convinced. Strange things begin after they receive a phone call from a prominent attorney in North Carolina who says he is going to defend Sterling Hopewell. Mysterious events surround their search at the old post office. Now the sisters must figure out if and how the cases are related.

Maya's Gold

Summary

Love and gold. Mystery and passion.  All famous mystery author Stanton Black wanted was to leave the flashbulbs of Hollywood behind. Hiding out in the wilds of northeast Oregon seemed like the perfect way to get over an attempt on his life while researching his work. His latest novel would draw on the history of his ancestors and the lore of gold country. Now, all he needed was a suitable tour guide. Special education teacher Maya Valentine was no tour guide. After the death of her parents, Maya has come home to Salisbury Junction for the summer only to have an ailing friend talk her into escorting Stanton around the area. As a pattern of crime around her and the newfound gold on her property leads to mystery, her relationship with Stanton turns to thoughts of romance. A romance too impossible to consider.
