The recently upgraded SS-20 MIRV nose cone configuration contained three 150 kiloton (kt) devices. During the first stages of the disassembly process three of these nose cones had gone missing. Nine 150 kt nuclear bombs were unaccounted for. A Russian named Geonov was charged with selling one of these devices to the Medellin cartel. The asking price was $40 million in cash. Pablo Escobar did not even blink when he was offered one. In March 1987, the CIA’s Operation Acapulco Cold took on the Medellín cartel. The journey was dangerous. The alternative for not recovering the nuke was too horrible to imagine. The year was 1987. It was hard to fathom the span of 17 years since Rick Fontain had stepped onto the world stage as a free agent of the Central Intelligence Agency. The official non-official title given to such a person is called a NOC. It stands for non-official cover. The evil being perpetrated by our adversaries during this time was both sinister and deadly. This very inspiring tale inside a very Cold War takes the men of the 3rd Armored Division though a series of history making operations. Carefully crafted CIA planning provides the pause necessary and ultimately prevents a nuclear showdown with Russia. The infamous Fulda Gap becomes the center stage of the action. His familiarity with the Russian gunship - the Mil Mi24 - was just icing on the cake. Rick is reunited with his Redeye instructor Andy Davis, and together, they would lay out a plan to kill buku Russian aircraft. However, the operation stalls in 1982 and would not move forward until Rick thwarts an assignation attempt on one: Maalouf Torki bin Taisei. Mr. Taisei is a Malaysian government official. He is also the largest arms dealer on the Pacific Rim. The KGB gets wind that the Pakistan ISI has agreed to support Operation Cyclone. Their attacks are fierce. However, the result was not what they expected. President Regan issued a change to the original operation requirements. The gloves were to come off. Rick Fontain is told to do whatever it takes to get Stinger into the hands of the Afghan freedom fighters.
