The Book of Prayers

Summary

Millions of men packing stadiums for prayer? The Promise Keepers, an organization offering spiritual guidance and community to Christian men, has done just that. In this program, Stephen L. Shanklin, the leader of prayer for the Promise Keepers, teaches the importance of prayer, while motivating men to make a connection with God. Each chapter begins with a brief story about a man searching for spiritual guidance, followed by prayers and passages from the Bible.

The Web of Life

Summary

The "web" has become our most powerful ecological image of the interconnectedness of all creatures, yet this image predates science, it is present in every culture's anthology. Chief Seattle said "Whatever man does to the web, he does to himself." Award-winning journalist Richard Louv explores the fragile network that connects people and the strands that make it up: nature, childhood, adulthood, spirit, purpose, and community. Louv makes a compelling case that our future depends on rebuilding this fragile web of life through strengthening and treasuring our friendships, our business relationships, and our families.

The Blood Artists

Summary

Drs. Stephen Pearse and Peter Maryk once worked together to research a horrifying virus outbreak in the Congo. Now Pearse heads the Bureau of Disease Control and Maryk runs the clandestine special pathogens section of the disease detectives - making the 2 scientists bitter enemies. But when the disease from the Congo re-emerges in America, they must set aside their differences in order to stop a potential worldwide epidemic. Using the blood of one woman who is immune to the disease, they create a serum that might work, if the disturbingly cunning virus doesn't have plans of its own.
