Wild Raspberries

Summary

When Callie MacCallum sews her first quilt after the death of her lover Jack Sebring, she doesn't realize she'll be drawn into a Sebring family battle between wife and daughter-in-law. She simply wants to fulfill her promise to Jack to visit their cabin in the West Virginia mountains, where their long love affair was safely hidden. Instead, her emotionally reminiscent trip becomes crowded with the two Sebring women, a grief counselor, and the massive role Callie assumes. She must speak for Jack in order to protect his four-year-old grandson Chad from his stubbornly manipulative and blame-passing grandmother and his recently widowed and power-usurping mother. Callie understands both women grieve the loss of Chad's father. He died when a raging storm split the tree that crushed him. Grief isn't the only common thread running between the four women. One by one, their secrets are revealed on the West Virginia mountaintop.

Follow Me Down

Summary

Urban explorer Lucas Tremaine should buckle down and complete his masters in architecture, but the past torments him. Six years earlier, Drax Enterprises’ negligence killed his father and left his mother strung out on Valium. Lucas longs to punish the corrupt behemoth of Cincinnati real estate development, but what can one man do?

"Plenty," says old Mr. Blumenfeld, Lucas's boss and a former photojournalist with too many secrets. Evidence to bury Drax exists, he claims, but to find it, Lucas must breach the city's welded-shut subway system. Lucas takes the plunge, aided by his best friend and moral compass, Reuben Klein.

The deeper the duo infiltrates the dangerous underground, the further back they turn the clock. They learn that Drax's corruption intertwined with fascism's rise in Germany. That campfire tales of a subway crypt were true. That no one can be trusted, not even Lucas's boss.

Phil's former girlfriend is the next to suspect foul play, and together, she and Ryan attempt to involve her father, Monty Floyd, the District Attorney of Tyson County. Monty is sympathetic to their fears, but where is the evidence? With the Tyson pool closed for the summer, Ryan, a champion swimmer, must find another place to train. When he and his two friends discover a nearby secluded lake, Ryan swims for stardom but stumbles across the evidence necessary to put an end to Tyson's trail of tears.
