Follow the Dove

Summary

Fifteen-year-old Isa Muirison loves her life working for the floating shops of Orkney at the turn of the 20th century. But her happy family life is thrown into turmoil by her father’s decision to emigrate to Canada, her sister’s illness, and her own love for Davie, a penniless whisky runner. Despite her family’s opposition, she follows Davie to his tiny island home where she is met by the fierce hostility of his mother and his childhood sweetheart, Chrissie. Alone among strangers, Isa’s unrelenting determination gains acceptance and popularity in the close-knit community. But no one could have foreseen the tragedy that rips the heart out of that community and shatters Isa’s security.... Meanwhile, Chrissie has found solace in the arms of Davie’s violent brother, Jack, only to discover a darkness in his soul she could never have imagined. Events are set in motion over which the two women have no control... Will either of them ever find peace - and in whose arms will Davie find solace? Set in the Northern isles of Scotland, amid the treacherous waters of the Pentland Firth, Follow the Dove shows how love can conquer all, and how, even in the most diverse of conditions, a community can pull together to protect its own. It describes a way of life that is authentic but gone forever. Inspired by Catherine Cookson, Jessica Stirling and Evelyn Hood, the audiobook will appeal to women interested in historical fiction. Follow the Dove won the second prize in the novel category of the Scottish Association of Writers.

The Ghost

Summary

A contemporary fantasy romance full of magic, mystery, and passion. Wracked with unending guilt and torment, Brynn must find a way back into the shadowy realm of Fae to rescue his imprisoned comrades. Only one person can help him undertake this dangerous mission, a witch named Fenora. His love. However, Brynn must set aside his feelings for the exotic sorceress and follow his sense of duty, knowing he will not survive. Fenora thought her dealings with the Fae were finished. However, the arrival of Brynn and the Shadowstone, as well as the unexpected voice calling to her from her garden, was evidence her dealings with the other worldly creatures were far from over. Torn between her sense of duty as a witch and her love for the tortured ancient warrior, Fenora must, once again, unravel the mystery and magic of her destiny. Together Brynn and Fenora must bring home those trapped in the unearthly realm, despite a shocking revelation that will threaten their future together. For my listeners: This story has some unresolved plot lines that will continue in book three, however the conclusion of this story remains satisfying. Mature content.

The Art of Remembering

Summary

Professional ballerina Ailsa MacIntyre is at the peak of her career when her world is shattered by a shocking diagnosis. Life-saving surgery leaves her with a fractured memory, little recollection of her husband, Evan, and none of her career as a principal dancer.  While recuperating at home, Ailsa hears beautiful music coming from the apartment upstairs, and the sound of the grand piano at the hands of a talented new neighbor sparks her muscle memory. As her recovery progresses, the broken pieces of her past gradually re-emerge, a picture not quite as idyllic as Evan would have her remember. Ailsa must navigate the conflicting visions of her past, and potential future, as they collide.
