Summary

A Hindi translation of J. Krishnamurti’s On God - by Sanjeev Kumar Sharma, Vinay Kumar Vaidya and Shakti Kumar - the audiobook is an inquiry into the search for the divine. Can we ever know the unknowable? How do we understand it through our thoughts and experiences? Krishnamurti peels off layers within the eternal quest to know that which is beyond human reality. While deepening the philosophical ideas around our complex relationship with faith, religion, divinity and the sacred, the author also indicates the challenge for intellectual reasoning to articulate such knowledge. He identifies our propensity to move towards faith as a way of overcoming our fear, grief, confusion, suffering and uncertainty. De-mystifying the mystical realm, Krishnamurti leads us towards freely exploring and experiencing our spiritual minds. How can we find our own path towards discovering supreme joy? Does absolute truth exist and can it ever be invoked through the fragmented human reality? Can we be free from our need to understand through our intellect and attempt to take a leap into experiencing deeply and fully? One of the greatest minds of the 20th century, Krishnamurti leads us to the threshold of finding our own truth. Challenging dogmatic patterns, he lays emphasis on our capacity to seek and embrace the ‘unknowable’ by giving up all that we think we know. He presents an inspiring path for the individual who is seeking to look within, to unlock the greatest mysteries known to humankind - the nature of truth, reality and authentic enlightenment. Maalgudi Ka Mehmaan [Talkative Man]

Summary

R.K. Narayan, a notable author from the early Indian literature in the English language, is most famous for his stories and novels set in the fictional South Indian town of Malgudi, first introduced in his novel Swami and His Friends (1935). His other famous work, The Guide, won the Sahitya Akademi Award for works in English in 1960 and was later turned into a feature film. In a career that spanned more than 60 years, he has written 15 novels and several short stories, many of which are set in Malgudi.    Malgudi Ka Mehman is the Hindi translation of Narayan’s 1986 novel Talkative Man, where Narayan tells the story of an unnamed character: the titular ‘talkative man’ (TM), who, although living comfortably on the famous Kabir Street of Malgudi, works as a freelance journalist to satiate his passion for stories and conversations - much like Narayan himself during his early days as a journalist. One day, he comes across a mysterious man, a certain Dr Rann, who arrives in Malgudi from Timbuktu, wearing a fancy blue suit and claiming to be researching a project for the United Nations. Fascinated by him, TM invites him over to stay in his house. As time passes, however, gossip spreads that Dr Rann is seducing the librarian’s young daughter. Before TM can even respond to this news, he is faced with another mystery, as a large woman arrives from Delhi, claiming Dr Rann to be her erratic, wandering husband. Will TM be able to find the truth about Dr Rann and his ‘wife’? Please note: This audiobook is in Hindi.
