Summary
Jake was impressed by Chris, who he met in night school. She was educated and appeared to be very independent and self-confident. After they married he was uncomfortable with the unusually close relationship that she had with her daddy. He loved her but every little thing about her that he didn’t like was magnified, from her plowshare legs to her snippy superiority. Divorce was beginning to look like a very tempting option.
