Summary

The fourth installment in the What We Believe series helps children understand what it means to be a "[G]ood and faithful servant" of God (Matthew 25:23).  This study will help them choose to put God first in every area of their lives based on these biblical truths: God owns all things because he created and sustains all things; he has entrusted me with certain gifts and wants me to use these gifts for his glory; I honor God by using my money and possessions wisely; I glorify him by investing my time and talents wisely; my body is not my own but has been bought at a price; God expects me to care for his creation; God will reward me for my faithfulness.

Who Am I? (And What Am I Doing Here?)

Summary

Our children are bombarded daily with competing messages. Every song, movie, book, TV show, blog, and game is full of ideas - ideas about God, people, truth, beauty, and right and wrong. Not all of these ideas are true. Some are deceptive and even destructive. The What We Believe series helps children learn to discern the truth by using God's Word as a lens through which to view the world around them - to see everything the way God sees it. Easy to use for the whole family, this is the second book in a four-part study that introduces young people, ages 6-14, to the basic truths of the Christian faith. Through engaging stories, creative notebooking, and fun activities, they will come to understand what it means to be fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of the Most High God. This study will enable children to develop a healthy, biblical self-image and a sense of God-given purpose that will last a lifetime.

Science in the Atomic Age

Summary

This laboratory-based, middle school science course covers a wide range of topics that are of interest to modern scientists. It starts by describing our current understanding of atoms, molecules, the chemicals that are necessary for life, DNA, and cells. These topics are all discussed in the context of history, explaining how specific scientific advances led to the scientific explanations that the students are being taught. This allows students to learn not only the current scientific understanding of these topics, but also how scientists reached that understanding.  The course then uses what the student has learned to describe the living world. It discusses the levels of organization found in creation and spends time discussing topics at each level. As a result, students learn how cells work together to make tissues, how tissues come together to make organs, how organs form organ systems, how those organ systems produce organisms, and how those organisms relate to one another in populations and communities. Throughout the course, God's design in nature is highlighted, and topics in the creation/evolution debate are discussed.
