This is obviously based on Tolstoy’s Anna Karenina. Why did you choose this book? A - If you’ve read the book in its entirety, then you know how it ends. Even if you saw the movie, which is very much an abridged version of the novel, it still ends tragically. I first read the book as a teenager, then again in my twenties and one more time later, perhaps in my forties. I watched the movie only once, finding the portrayals shallow and silly, but no matter what, I always wanted the ending to be different. The Masters Reimagined provided me with the opportunity to set things right for Anna. Q - What is The Masters Reimagined? A - In The Masters Reimagined, ten authors unite to bring something new to the classic stories of literature we all know so well. Masters like James Joyce, Rudyard Kipling, Lewis Carroll, Herman Melville, Leo Tolstoy, and Shakespeare inspired the authors of the Alvarium Experiment in their quest to reinterpret, reinvent, and reshape the stories and characters through speculative twists and turns. This is the third project by the Alvarium Experiment, a consortium of accomplished and award-winning authors. Q - Where should a reader start when selecting a short story to read in The Masters Reimagined? A - Each story is self-contained and can be read in any order. The reader is free to select any of the stories at random to begin their experience. The book description will explain the premise for each particular story.

Want to dive into a world full of werewolves, magic, and witches? "Something about his eyes changed. For a moment, his eyes dilated to an unnatural size. The color transformed to an insane shade of gold. The feeling of being prey took over her for one terrifying minute. But, something crept forward from the dark recesses of her mind. Whatever the darkness was, it was ugly, and it didn’t like to be challenged." Louvette Blackwood never even knew her own father's name until a lawyer shows up on her door step to execute her grandfather's will. She soon finds out that her grandfather was murdered while searching for her father. At first, they are hesitant to sign the will, but quickly realize that a fresh start in Montana is what they need after she was kicked out of yet another school for fighting. A life changing year packed full of uncovering the truth, new friends, and new enemies is about to start! Excerpt: The impact of the sucker punch sent Louvette to the ground hard. Pain flared across her cheek as it split. The effects of her adrenaline paused as her mother’s words of warning replayed in her mind: Make this school last until graduation. She knew this would break her mother’s heart. A shout that did not come from her mother took her back to present reality. She hadn’t started this fight, but she knew she wasn’t going to let her butt get stomped, either. She jumped up. Her fist balled as a blonde pixie of a girl came at her. Louvette dodged her this time and swung her fist straight into the girl’s nose. A solid crunch sounded as her attack landed. Her momentary satisfaction was thrown off along with her balance as the girl fell to the ground. A large arm separated them as the coach finally arrived to do his job. They continued to kick at each other, looking like barrel monkeys hanging off a barrel. “Break it up! Lynskey and Mallory report to the principal’s office immediately,” snapped Coach No Clue.
