The first pulse occurred in the old calendar year of 2022. A sequence of gigantic solar flares created a series of massive electromagnetic pulses that stopped the heart of our modern world and returned us to the Dark Ages. Tens of thousands died within the first few hours as airplanes fell from the skies, hospitals ceased to work, and every form of modern transportation ground to a halt. Within days the death toll had reached the hundreds of thousands. Fires raged unchecked through the cities, water supplies ran out and survivors turn on each other as mob rule surpassed all else. And Marine Master Gunnery Sergeant Nathaniel Hogan finds that he has been changed by the huge amounts of gamma radiation in the solar flares. They have enhanced his natural abilities, giving him increased speed, strength, and healing; indefinitely extending his life span and enabling him to be able to draw on the power of the solar flares to create magik. Making him - The Forever Man. But even The Forever Man was not prepared for what happened next.

I’m gonna tell you something right from the start: I’m not the good guy. I was good once, when I was a kid. Little league trophies, comic book collection, straight A’s. Hell, I got myself into Dragontusk University of Witchcraft and Wizardry. A real Harry Potter, I was gonna be. But then I found out, the life of slaying dragons, the life of rescuing princesses, the life of a white picket fence and family photo Christmas cards...that was never for me. I’m a hobgoblin. And if one thing hobgoblins care about, it’s blood. Blood ties, blood debts. I’ve started with Mickey Mouse scores: Holding up liquor stores, dealing tree, squeezing Kobold Delis. But now, a big heist has come my way, and I just might land a real score, a huge score. Now, I just have to let go of worn out dreams, and accept what I am...a stone cold gangster. Warning: This book contains explicit language, explicit action, explicit everything. Adults only, all that jazz. If you’re a precious snowflake, this book is a friggin’ flame thrower.

Every man has problems. It turns out...gods have even more! I was living the high life, enjoying the powers of my cosmic sketchbook, when everything fell apart. There was a cosmic battle at the museum of history where I actually drew all kinds of epic warriors into existence. I barely managed to destroy that cosmic horror in the sky...but at a heavy price. My beautiful priestess fell into a coma, and the authorities were after me, since I gave my secret away in that very public battle for the fate of LA. Everything was lost. So, I did what any red-blooded Regular Joe would do: I drew a giant space station into existence, fled to outer space, pumped my body full of artificial adrenaline to keep myself awake for three months straight and plotted. Now, it's time I return to LA and set things right. This time, nothing's going to stop me from creating everything I've ever wanted with my magic sketchbook! Warning: This audiobook contains explicit language, explicit action, explicit everything. Adults only, all that jazz. If you’re a precious snowflake, this audiobook is a friggin’ flame thrower.

Parley P. Pratt wrote A Voice of Warning over a two-month period while on a mission to New York. The economy in Kirtland was collapsing, and dissension was rife among Church members. Even Parley became caught up in the dissension and was for a time estranged to Joseph Smith. In an act of renewal, Parley went to New York to preach the gospel and purify himself. With few doors open to him, Parley focused himself on writing, producing A Voice of Warning. At first, few took notice of the work, but in time it became the most important of all Mormon missionary tracts of the 19th century and was eventually published in more than 30 English editions and several non-English versions. The eventual impact of A Voice of Warning was profound. In 1870, the Mormon dissident Edward Tullidge commented, “Ask the people what brought them into the church, and you would hear from every direction Parley Pratt’s Voice of Warning.” One Latter-day Saint diarist of the 19th century observed, “We had every encouragement to read the Church publications: A Voice of Warning; the Pearl of Great Price; and Key to Theology.” That these two of Parley Pratt’s writings would be on the same footing as the Pearl of Great Price, canonized in 1880, indicates the special status these works held among early Church leaders and members. In 1864, A Voice of Warning was one of two works Brigham Young recommended to a correspondent for an overview of Mormon doctrine. And in 1875, A Voice of Warning was the first title mentioned in the Church’s Deseret News list of books worth reading. Parley Pratt’s A Voice of Warning continues to be worthwhile today, providing the modern listener a powerful and persuasive witness regarding the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.

In late 1853, Parley Pratt received a letter from his brother and fellow member of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles, Orson Pratt. Orson had committed himself to contribute to the publication of genealogical information on the descendants of their ancestor Willian Pratt, an English Puritan who had migrated to New England in the 1630s, and wanted Parley to contribute to the publication, too. The compiler of the information, a Congregationalist minister, had asked Orson that he and Parley, known to be prominent religionists, write autobiographical sketches for the planned publication. In reply to Orson, Parley was reluctant, writing that “a mere sketch of the outlines of [my] truly eventful life would occupy several hundred pages”. In subsequent correspondence, Orson pressed Parley, praising Parley’s “interesting, easy, flowing” writing style and observing that if they worked together under the “dictations of the Holy Spirit”, they might “write something that shall hereafter prove a blessing to our brethren”. It would take four more years for Parley to write his autobiography, and it would not be published until 1874. Parley P. Pratt’s autobiography is one of the great personal stories of early Latter-day Saint church history. It is an eventful and thrilling story of a man’s complete faith in and total commitment to the restored gospel of Jesus Christ, as well as the price he paid and the blessings he received for pursuing such a course. The story presented in Parley’s autobiography has enthralled Latter-day Saint readers from its 1874 publication to the present day and has shaped many Latter-day Saints’ views of early church history.
