Few authors can claim to have marked a genre so thoroughly and personally that their words have leaked into every aspect of modern pop culture. Clive Barker is such an author, and the Books of Blood marked his debut - his coming out to the world - in brilliant, unforgettable fashion. Crossroad Press is proud to present Clive Barker's Books of Blood as an audiobook for the first time. The Books of Blood combine the ordinary with the extraordinary while radiating the eroticism that has become Barker's signature. Weaving tales of the everyday world transformed into an unrecognizable place, where reason no longer exists and logic ceases to explain the workings of the universe, Clive Barker provides the stuff of nightmares in packages too tantalizing to resist. Never one to shy away from the unimaginable or the unspeakable, Clive Barker breathes life into our deepest, darkest nightmares, creating visions that are at once terrifying, tender, and witty. The Books of Blood confirm what horror fans everywhere have known for a long time: We will be hearing from Clive Barker for many years to come.

Henry Culyer Bunner is considered a comedic genius of the short story form. Known for choosing distinctly American themes and characters, his stories are often seen as trivial, merely expanded anecdotes, yet they are so vitally treated that they grip and remain, and, often, lift and chasten. Here is "The Nice People," one of his best known sketches - a story of people, assumptions, and societal expectations. Proceeds from sale of this title go to Reach Out and Read, an innovative literacy advocacy organization.

Tex Avery, considered the father of screwball animation, was one of the most influential animators of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. Creator of such classic characters as Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and Droopy, he directed many cartoons for Warner Bros., MGM, and Walter Lantz Productions and was nominated for six Academy Awards. Avery did much of his groundbreaking work in Hollywood, running the famous "Termite Terrace" animation studio. There, with a team that included fellow innovators Chuck Jones and Bob Clampett, Avery developed an animation style based on the idea that the artist could do anything in a cartoon and didn't need to base it in reality. Although Avery was blind in one eye, he did not let it hold him back. Known for his inventiveness and comic timing, he forged a legacy that influences animators today. Tex Avery: Hollywood's Master of Screwball Cartoons illustrates this animation pioneer's life, his inspiration, and his lasting effect on the animation world.
