Summary

Who do you trust? Who can you depend on? James Beltz's modern-day gunslinger, known to the rest of us as DJ Slaughter, returns in this thrilling sequel. Book one left us with a massive cliffhanger. Book two serves to answer all of your burning questions in the very first chapter. However, in a sudden, neck-snapping plot twist, you will only be left with more questions. Nice job, James. Very nice job indeed... The first book was a break-neck pace of thrilling adventure, reminding this reviewer of the first season of the Fox TV series "24". You know, before it went downhill and got all politically correct. But I digress...this sequel only allows you enough pause to catch your breath and dive deeper into the characters you have come to love. Along with an introduction to a few more you will quickly find yourself attached to. By the time you get to the end, you will feel like you know them all personally. But prepare yourself. The world is littered with villains. James very effectively reminds us that they can spring out at you from places you least expect. This time, DJ has met his match. And how do you beat someone that is better than you? I guess you'll have to listen to the book to find out....

High Tension

Summary

For Jack Bonafide, it's kill or be killed.... It's 1981, and CIA spy-hunter Jack Bonafide and his ragtag team of volunteers have got their hands on the most explosive intel of the decade - the secret identity of every Soviet sleeper agent currently operating within the United States. Now, it's a race against time to black-bag each and every one of them before Jack's prey even realize they're being hunted - because the moment they do, Bonafide's orders to "capture or kill" could spark a nuclear apocalypse. As if the stakes weren't high enough, the further Jack and his team descend into the shadows, the more unclear it becomes who the real enemy is - or what they'd be willing to do to get their own hands on that logbook. High Tension is the latest in Jordan Vezina's taut Jack Bonafide series of historical thrillers - blending painstakingly researched historical facts with a fast-paced, totally immersive story line that'll have you rooted to the edge of your seat till the end.

Shark in the Housing Pool

Summary

Using forgeries and bogus identities, Matthew B. Cox - one of the most ingenious con men in history - bilked America’s biggest banks out of millions. Despite numerous encounters with bank security, state and federal authorities, Cox narrowly, and quite luckily, avoided capture for years. Eventually, he topped the U.S. Secret Service’s most wanted list, and led the U.S. Marshals, FBI, and the Secret Service on a three-year-chase, while jet-setting around the world with his attractive female accomplices.  Cox has been declared “one of the most prolific mortgage fraud con artists of all time”, by CNBC’s American Greed. Bloomberg Businessweek called him “the mortgage industry’s worst nightmare”, while Dateline NBC described Cox as “a gifted forger and silver tongued liar”. Playboy magazine proclaimed, “His scam was real estate fraud, and he was the best”.  Shark in the Housing Pool is Cox’s exhilarating, first-person account, of his stranger-than-fiction story.

The Black Tsar

Summary

Even within the intelligence community, the Black Tsar was considered to be a myth - the most powerful hydrogen bomb in human history, secretly constructed by the Soviets and capable of near-biblical levels of human destruction. Only, the Black Tsar was never a myth - and 20 years after the weapon went missing from a darkened warehouse in Sarov, Russia, it's now been tracked to somewhere within the United States. It is 1982, the height of the Cold War, and two rival factions of the KGB are each trying to find the legendary Black Tsar and seize control of this "gun to America's head" before the other.  Only Sergeant Jack Bonafide stands in their way.  But Jack would be the first to admit he's not the man he used to be. A former member of the legendary Delta Force, he's far from combat-ready, he's already skating on thin ice in his new assignment with the CIA, and the only man he can trust is his deeply troubled brother, Mac. The stakes have never been higher, the future of the free world is in question, and the buck stops with the Bonafide boys. Yet, meanwhile - somewhere out there - the Black Tsar's countdown has started ticking.
