Summary
Millions of honest, hardworking Americans invest in pension funds hoping to survive comfortably in retirement. Dishonest managers swoop down like vampires and suck these funds dry. They use this money to support their own lavish lifestyles or salt it away in hidden accounts to use at their leisure leaving their clients destitute. If caught, these criminals serve minimum sentences in country club prisons and, on release, live in luxury on their ill-gotten gains. A cyber vigilante the FBI calls "Rolly" turns this upside down. Rolly removes evidence of the theft and restores the victims' losses. Then, he plants evidence showing the thieves committed more serious crimes, leading to stiff sentences in maximum security prisons. But Rolly’s work derails the FBI's white collar crime investigations and makes them look inept. Enraged, Robert Johnson, the division’s director, mounts an unauthorized hunt for Rolly. Summary
President Eisenhower in his 1961 Presidential farewell speech to the nation warned about what he termed the defense industrial complex. In the years since this speech was given and throughout the Cold War era to the present, corporations solely dedicated to the production of the weapons of war have flourished. Gone were the days, such as those during WWII, where companies devoted to the production of consumer goods could be quickly shifted to a wartime footing. The post WW II Cold War, on both sides of the Atlantic, spawned entire industries whose only purpose was and still is to produce weapons of war. With the fall of the Soviet Union in the early '90s, this very lucrative arms market faced the real possibility of becoming passe. But as President Eisenhower so presciently predicted, in 1961, the defense industrial complex was not about to allow this vast source of revenue to collapse; and the Middle East became the new player on a redecorated stage under the direction of the same two Cold War adversaries.

Summary
In the dark opening days of the Second World War, Japan marches unhindered through China and Southeast Asia. They decimate the American Fleet at Pearl Harbor. Grind the Philippines and the remaining American territories in the South Pacific beneath their bootheels. Not even the North American continent is immune as the Japanese conquer Alaskan Islands.
