Disemboweled by the razor scythes of a six-foot mantis, lobotomized by hungry larvae, or roasted on an exoskeletal skewer: these are only a few of the disgusting ways to die in humanity's hopeless war against giant space insects. Deployed on a brutal bug planet without a chaplain, a depleted infantry unit has entrusted its eulogy duties to the soldier standing closest at time of death. Somehow this rotten privilege keeps falling to Pvt. Timothy Archon. Archon's speeches explore the strange obsessions the men have developed since the war began - from archiving killbug death psalms to trying to seduce the enemy. Did these manias somehow redeem them, or only bring them quicker to their messy ends? But more importantly: Why does Archon keep having such terrible luck?

Back in the 1980s, Kevin hoisted a firebrand to bad-assery as a new vampire outside the punk rock clubs of New York City. These days, he's retreated to rural Ohio, where he lazes around an abandoned church, playing the organ and dreading the taste of the corn-fed locals. One night, a vampire hunter breaks into his sanctum bearing worrying news: another of Kevin's kind has concocted a plot to turn the whole world into a hell for living and undead alike. The hunter proposes an alliance to destroy this rogue vampire, but Kevin suspects his would-be ally has at least one secret he isn't telling.

The Convent of Mary the Queen sits majestically on beautiful grounds miles from the nearest town. Years ago, something so sinister and evil happened in the convent, something so dire that no one speaks about it. Therese is excited to become a nun; it has been her lifelong dream. She enters the convent with much happiness and enthusiasm, ecstatic that her dream has now become a reality. She works hard, and prays hard. The sisters are overjoyed to have a young woman join them, and Therese soon falls into the daily rituals of the convent. But when chilling apparitions appear, voices are heard out of nowhere, and encounters of the most evil and deadly kind occur, a terrified Therese finds herself losing her religion. When she goes searching for answers, she discovers such a grisly answer that her faith is put to the test. Staying means a sure death but leaving means losing her dream and life as she has ever wanted it to be.
