In Garden Grove, everything is very calm and peaceful, and the spirits of the earth: Grunch, Ruff, and Rocky; air: Swifty and Pinwheel, and water: Muff and Wiz are very happy. And sometimes, Archie and Sparky, who live in the flames and embers, visit when someone lights a fire. Then, a logger and an oilman arrive and disrupt the grove when the logger begins sawing to cut down trees and the oilman drills for oil. But the spirits seek to drive them out. Gruff shakes the earth, Ruff rustles tree branches, and Rocky throws rocks, while Swifty and Pinwheel stir up the wind. Soon, Muff and Wiz are churning the water in the stream, and Archie and Sparky cause the fire to rise up and scare the men when they cook hot dogs. So, what will happen? Will the spirits of nature win out? Can they scare the men into leaving? Or will the logger and oil fight back and win? The Battle for Garden Grove tells the story. The Neanderthals Are Back: The Beginning is the first of a series of stories about the life of Neanderthals growing up in modern society after two scientists bring them back with the help of some surrogate mothers. This audiobook focuses on the story of the first six Neanderthal babies as they grow up. At first, they are raised in the lab in secret and taught by a nursery school teacher. When the children are five and six, the scientists place them with the owners of a group home for children with disabilities. The stories follow the Neanderthal children as they grow up, go to school, have relationships with other children, go through their teenage years, and start working in unskilled jobs in their early 20s. Along the way they face many challenges, including bullying, romances with humans, and a strike for better working conditions. Some even participate in experiments where they get a genius pill that makes them suddenly smart for a while. Meanwhile, scientists in other areas of the country bring back other Neanderthal kids. The Beginning features the six children’s first years of being born, growing up in the lab, and being introduced to their group home. We also get to know the kids who have very different personalities - from being a leader to being very friendly and social or being quiet and shy. Then, when one boy goes exploring, this leads to a series of events, resulting in the media discovering the Neanderthals, leading to the question: "What do we do now?" The audiobook is the beginning of a unique compelling series that raises many issues that might occur should the Neanderthals really be brought back, which could happen.

The New Neanderthals: The Rise of the Force is the first of a series of stories that build on the story in The Neanderthals Are Back. The book begins when the owner of a company that uses robots for production and shipping learns about the first group of neanderthals. The owner enlists the help of two scientists to bring back more neanderthals through cloning to replace the robots in order to reduce costs. Soon, he has a workforce of neanderthals. Ten years later, after this operation has been running successfully in secret, some detectives find out about the neanderthals and they visit the owner with unique proposal. They hope to recruit a team of neanderthals to help them track down and capture an escaped prisoner who has fled to the desert and mountains. Since prison officials and others in law enforcement have given up on finding the prisoner, the detectives think maybe the neanderthals can, because they are supposed to be strong, aggressive, have really good vision, and can work well together, such as when out on a hunt. The new team trains for a few weeks, and once they are ready, the detectives take them to the desert to look for the escaped prisoner. But can the neanderthals find him, and if they do, can they avoid being shot or killed by a well-armed prisoner? The rise of the force tells this story. Future stories in the series describe how the new neanderthal force grows and undertakes other missions using low-tech means to help law enforcement capture criminals. This book is for those who believe they know all they need to know about the criminal justice system -- the system that keeps us safe from criminals; the system that protects its good, law-abiding citizens. Told in two sections, the first a first-person perspective of a victim's husband, American Justice is a true story that provides an up close and personal look at the American justice system and how easy it is to become a victim of the system. The focus within this book is more than the victims' stories, it is a crucial and critical examination of how things can go very wrong, especially when one does not adequately understand the laws that are supposed to protect them. Paul Brakke and his wife Carol believed that obeying the law and telling the truth was good enough. They believed that truth would indeed prevail. They were wrong. Paul and Carol Brakke's nightmare began when some local kids falsely accused Carol of trying to run one of them over. The kids didn't like her interfering with their play at a dangerous intersection. Based on this false accusation and additional lies by neighbors who wanted to get the Brakkes out of the neighborhood, Carol was subjected to psychological warfare, which included an involuntary commitment to a psych ward, two psychological evaluations, exile from her home, delays in setting a trial date, and the threat of a 16-year jail term. These circumstances forced the Brakkes to agree to move out of their home to another community as part of a plea bargain in which all charges relating to aggravated assault were dropped. This book describes Carol and Paul's harrowing experience, followed by Paul's discussion of problems in the criminal justice system and recommendations on what to do to resolve those problems.

Are We All Right? details a number of things that are wrong in our society in America and how we need to make changes to fix the problems. The lyrics point up problems with crime, junkies, gangs, homelessness, bank fraud, insurance rates, oil spills, forest destruction, and global warming that have been getting worse over the last few decades. The song and this book are a kind of rallying cry or call to action about the many problems we need to fix today. As the song describes, it’s important to act quickly. We literally have to change the game. We need new rules, since otherwise, we seem to be heading to a certain disaster. This song is like an anthem to call attention to the problems we face, so we can do something to fix them before it’s too late. For example, the first verse begins: "We've got crime in the streets. We've got junkies down the hall. We've got homeless in the doorways, panhandlers on the mall. And the chorus starts this way: "But we're all right. We're all right. Yeah, that's what they tell us. Now we're all right." I hope this song and book will help you see that the more things change, the more they stay the same. Thus, we have to be proactive in seeking change, from making changes in your own life to reaching out to others in power to ask them to work for change. Let this song and book serve as a battle cry to make a positive difference - now!
