Summary

The original, groundbreaking The Joy of Sex returns in this audio version of the first (1972) edition of the illustrated sex guide. Featuring 100 tracks covering all the chapters of the original edition. A best seller since it was first published in 1972, Alex Comfort's classic work celebrates human physical intimacy with such authority and clarity that a whole generation felt empowered to enjoy sex. It was groundbreaking and unique in the wide range of subjects it discussed and in its reassuring authority and sense of fun. No other book has come close in providing such a wise, witty, uninhibited - sometimes delightfully eccentric - guide to lovemaking. As featured in the movie Sex Tape. Dr Alex Comfort, M.B., D.Sc., (1920-2000) was a leading expert on human sexuality and one of the most versatile authors of the 20th century. A pioneer in the study of old age, co-founder of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, anarchist, social commentator, novelist and poet, he wrote over 50 books and countless scientific papers. Dr Comfort also worked as head of research on gerontology at University College London, a lecturer at the Department of Psychiatry at Stanford University and Adjunct Professor at the Neuropsychiatric Institute at the University of California at Los Angeles. A member of the Royal Society of Medicine and an Associate Member of the American Psychiatric Association, he died in March 2000, aged 80.

Summary

A killer behind bars is still killing.... Dead bodies are piling up for Detective Sergeant Jessica Daniel. Usually when a serial killer is on the loose, the pressure would be building to find the perpetrator, but the victims are all hardened criminals themselves. The national media can't believe their luck with an apparent vigilante on the streets while Jessica's new boss seems grateful someone else is doing their job for them. But things aren't so straightforward when forensics matches blood from the apparent killer to a man already behind bars.

A Cry in the Night

Summary

'Mom?' The word caught in the boy's throat. She didn't try to speak, didn't roll towards him. She didn't move at all.  In the middle of the night, 14-year-old Samuel is woken by the sound of a terrified scream from the kitchen of his home on a quiet street. The police - finding him sobbing on the kitchen floor, cradling his mother's lifeless body - hit a dead end before the investigation has even begun: because although he witnessed the murder, Samuel is blind.  But when Detective Jessica Daniel meets the boy, the way he uses just his sense of sound to accurately locate her hand to shake it convinces her that this clever young teenager could hold the key to the entire case. Her team disagree, but Jessica will do whatever it takes to get justice for the innocent.  Samuel's description of an intruder he heard walking with a limp leads Jessica to an isolated seaside town, where a well-liked local man has been missing for days. Breaking into his house, Jessica finds him lying flat on the bed, a bullet wound under his chin.  Digging into the victim's work records, Jessica uncovers a secret he shared with Samuel's mother and it's clear she was terrified for her son's safety. As Jessica pushes the boundaries to get closer to the truth, her most trusted colleague warns that she needs to watch her step...but Jessica won't stop until she's found the killer. Her career may be on the line, but so is Samuel's life.  An absolutely enthralling thriller, packed with twists and turns, perfect for fans of Robert Dugoni, Rachel Caine and Kendra Elliot.

Playing with Fire

Summary

Those who play with fire are going to get burned.... Seven years ago Martin Chadwick set fire to a Manchester pub, not knowing a teenager was sleeping inside. Chadwick's release from prison is imminent, with journalists gearing up for a good old-fashioned media lynching. With the victim's father telling the papers he is out for revenge, DS Jessica Daniel is left to keep an eye on Chadwick and his fiery 18-year-old son. If that's not enough to keep her occupied, a private investigator is doing a fine job sticking his oar in, it looks like there's a schoolgirl suicide ring in operation, her car is working a little too well, and the endless rain continues to pound her northern home. Jessica's personal and professional life are in the balance - giving her barely enough time to focus on the person in her midst seemingly intent on burning everything to the ground.
