Finders Keepers

Summary

It should have been a simple job. All archaeology student Jane Barnaby had to do was pick up a box her professor needed and deliver it to him at his dig site, along with his new car. Yes, his office was in Oxfordshire, and his dig site was in Spain, a trip of 1,400 miles across three countries and two bodies of water. Still, it should have been simple. And it was, until Jane discovered she picked up the wrong box by mistake. Not the one with boring pottery samples, but instead the one with priceless ancient Egyptian artifacts. The one that a team of international art thieves is after. Now she's chasing - and being chased by - the thieves. And she's picked up a pair of passengers who claim they can help her outwit them, get her professor's pottery back and return the artifacts to their rightful owner. If only she could figure out which one of them is working with the thieves and which one she can trust in this high-stakes game of finders keepers.

Cornered: The Painful True Story of My Child Abuse Hell

Summary

Born in 1975, Louise was living a happy, normal life as the much-adored only child of two loving and hard-working parents. But then, the tragic deaths of her father and grandfather within two years of each other turn her life upside-down. Having moved in with her mother's parents after the death of her father, Louise finds that her grandmother's increasing reliance on the local church for comfort after her husband's death draws a soon-to-be unwelcome guest to the family home: the verger, Mr. Jarvis. Whilst outwardly paying attention to her widowed grandmother, he also seems to be focused on Louise herself and abuses his position of trust, both at the church's Sunday school and in the family home, to force his unnatural obsessions on her. Even after Louise's mother remarries and she can finally look forward to moving away from Mr. Jarvis, Louise must endure one more harrowing attack before he is finally caught out. But even then, with child protection teams still very much in their infancy in the early 1980s, Louise still lives with the consequences of her unstable childhood. Warning: This audiobook is based upon a true story of child abuse, and as such contains passages that some listeners may find disturbing.

Cover art for 1000 French Verbs in Context

1000 French Verbs in Context

Summary

You're about to discover over 1000 French verbs exemplified in French & English sentences. Learning a new language is never an easy task, but it doesn't have to be hard. By learning the 1000 most used verbs in a language, you give yourself a fantastic foundation to start building upon to your road to fluency. In my audiobook, 1000 French Verbs in context, I give you over 1000 of the most common French verbs used today. You are given the verb in French and English with examples of the verb in a sentence, also in French and English. No more confusion about how to use the verb. One thousand words are a perfect number to aim for. It is important to give yourself goals to stay motivated and to keep yourself learning. Imagine if you learnt 10 words a day. Five in the morning and five at night. After only 100 days ( that's just over three months), you would have access to 1000 verbs in your vocabulary. That really is quite a lot and would give you an excellent grasp of the language. Far too many people expect to be speaking a new language far too quickly without putting in the time or effort. As a language teacher, I can testify to seeing this too many times. I can also say that by exposing yourself to a new language daily, you will surely learn it. It does take time and effort but 10 words a day will give you a massive boost. If you prefer a slower pace, then you could set yourself different goals. The key to learning new vocabulary is to see it in context, that means in use. Seeing how it's used will help you remember the word a lot better. It is also important to understand how that word should be used in a sentence.

Summary

In the fourth Terrence Reid book, Reid and Anne are back in Glasgow, trying to make a go of their patched-up marriage, when a string of nanny kidnappings hits a little too close to home.

Scottish Police Superintendent Terrence Reid's team is charged with finding the girls and stopping whoever's behind the abductions before another girl disappears. But that's easier said than done: There are more questions than answers, and everyone has something to hide.

As the complex layers of deceit are unraveled, the betrayals mount up, threatening to destroy families, careers, and lives. After Reid's own family becomes part of the case, he's forced to confront moral choices that threaten his most basic beliefs.
