In only 90 seconds, a fire in The Station nightclub left 100 people dead or dying and injured hundreds more. It would take years to find out why - and who was really at fault. All it took for a hundred people to die during a show by the hair metal band Great White was a sudden burst from four giant sparklers that ignited the acoustical foam lining the Station nightclub. But who was at fault? And who would pay? This being Rhode Island, the two questions wouldn’t necessarily have the same answer. Within 24 hours the governor of Rhode Island and the local police chief were calling for criminal charges, although the investigation had barely begun, key evidence still needed to be gathered, and many of the victims hadn’t been identified. Though many parties could be held responsible, fingers pointed quickly at the two brothers who owned the club. But were they really to blame? Best-selling author and three-time Emmy Award-winning journalist Scott James investigates all the central figures, including the band’s manager and lead singer, the fire inspector, the maker of the acoustical foam, as well as the brothers. Drawing on firsthand accounts, interviews with many involved, and court documents, James explores the rush to judgment about what happened that left the victims and their families, whose stories he also tells, desperate for justice. Trial by Fire is the heart-wrenching story of the fire’s aftermath because while the fire, one of America’s deadliest, lasted minutes, the search for the truth would take years.

North Korea has perfected a ballistic nuclear submarine, positioned far from the Californian coast but capable of raining down terror on Seattle, San Francisco, LA, and San Diego. Enough is enough. It’s time to take out this threat and take apart North Korea’s People’s Navy, one boat at a time. They say, cometh the hour, cometh the man. Cometh the foe, cometh the submarine. In exercises against allied diesel-electric boats, the United States Navy watched and learned. Its answer? The most powerful and silent diesel-electric boat ever to patrol the deeps: the USS Stonewall Jackson. It would require a cunning warrior of the seas to command such a boat. The USN has chosen its best young submariner: Commander Nathan Blake. He’ll need to employ stealth and guile to seek out the foe. The USS Stonewall Jackson is on her way. She’s mean and mad as hell. But, will Nathan find that the Korean People’s Navy has a trick up its sleeve? Follow Nathan and the USS Stonewall Jackson into hell and damnation.

Picking up the story with Baer on the road to North Carolina and Tat and Corazon in the motel with the hot tub, disaster is moments away. Baer, audiobook number six, is packed with more action, wit, and destruction than any audiobook in the series so far. It's more brutal, more funny, more heartbreaking, and more enlightening. I hope you find as much enjoyment in the reading as I did in the writing. (Clayton)

Lazy days spent in the uplands inevitably bring a closer connection with nature. Especially when your sport is seeking that game little bird, the woodcock. For the woodcock reassures us that the brooks are still dancing merrily through the woods and are on their way to sweet-scented meadows. So it is, the woodcock brings joy to the lovers of forest, cover, and stream. Woodcock Shooting was first published in 1908 and in an effort to continue to bring classic upland hunting books to a wider audience than could possibly be reached by access only to those remaining copies of originally published works, Project Upland is proud to make it available in audiobook.

The girls yammer all the way to Colorado and Baer's ready for a change. Stinky Joe concurs. But a random Rocky Mountain storm combines with a slippy transmission to force Baer to the side of the road to be rescued by an unwitting cop with a secret. Sometimes good men contemplate evil out of love. Sometimes they need an accomplice with backwood skills...and a reputation that precedes him. Sometimes they're a day late. Baer never wanted to be a killer, and being one is killing him. Forced to choose between the lives of two young boys, Baer travels deep in memory to his days with Gunter Stroh in a North Carolina cave, where lessons offered were never learned. Every chapter brings torment and Baer's soul is in the balance. You haven't met this Baer Creighton, and you won't know him until you do.
