Summary

Can the friend zone survive the end of the world? Missy and Kevin are friends. Just friends. They’d never actually date each other, because they’ve been friends since childhood, and that would be weird. Now it’s the apocalypse. People are leaking blood from their eyeballs and turning into homicidal oozing mutants. Fortunately, Kevin has access to an underground shelter, and he and Missy make it there in time to avoid a horrible gruesome death. But they’re trapped down there. Things are going to get weird. A gooey 24,000-word novella from the four-time Bram Stoker Award-nominated author of such demented horror/comedies as Blister, Wolf Hunt, Dead Clown Barbecue, and Benjamin's Parasite.

The Creatures of Holden Beach

Summary

Early one spring morning, the residents of Holden Beach, NC, find what appear to be two aliens washed up on the beach. Alicia Greengrass, the local movie starlet, is home from Hollywood and is first to discover the aliens during a morning stroll. Her cell phone pictures are circulating on Twitter before the police arrive, but the social media frenzy is just getting started. The police soon discover another body on the beach; the local bar owner Gerald Reed has been murdered. Sheriff Stan Stoney knows the aliens are a well-orchestrated hoax designed to go viral, but the increasing public interest is impeding his murder investigation. The distraction of the aliens is tolerated until the sheriff concludes that the two events appear to be somehow connected. The pranksters must be found because they may hold a key to solving the crime. But he knows one thing for certain: The creatures did not commit the murder!

Nitsokan: His Dream

Summary

After the death of the man that raised him as his own, Daniel begins to have reoccurring dreams about people and places unfamiliar to him. They make him begin to wonder what his life would have been like if his birth parents had not been killed when he was four years old. The dreams, seeds planted in his brain by spirits, seem to be a key in finding the answers to his questions. His search takes him to Browning, Montana, where he discovers many details of the life he had been separated from and falls in love with the very woman he may have been intended to be with all along.

In addition to finding family and love in Montana, Daniel gains a deeper understanding of the world around him. He learns to see things through the eyes of the Siksikawa (Blackfeet) and comes to realize that the spirits of loved ones that have passed can appear in the form of an animal or bird to help comfort and guide the living, when he is visited by the ghosts of Mary and Ray Crow Wing. They help him see that he is a link in the chain that connects the past to the future, and when they warn him of possible danger, his role in forging the next link becomes clear. Naapi (Old Man), the spirit that helped shape the world of the Siksikawa and one who can be either kind or a trickster, is embedded in the story. As Daniel learns his own story, he learns he is part of something that began long ago, when Naapi got in the middle of a dispute between the Chief of the Wolves and the Chief of the Grizzlies.

Throughout the story, the language of the Siksikawa (Blackfeet) is used to help perpetuate its existence and for the purpose of reminding people that before the west was won, there were people already living here, living their lives as their ancestors had done for thousands of years.

Missing the Alpha

Summary

Book five in the Full Moon series. When Noelle finds herself in the depths of the forest, she feels lost and delirious in her plight to find her way back home. But where is she? And how on earth will she get back to where she belongs? Luckily for her, the wheel of fortune is slowly turning in her favor, or is it? That's something that only time will tell.... Meanwhile, Declan is on a quest to become a wolf again, but the journey he must follow is unknown and relenting. He'll need more than luck to get him where he needs to go. He must find a witch, but that's going to be easier said than done. He really needs to get back to his pack. Unfortunately, Gabriel is in charge, and it's not looking pretty, so far. The pack is still suffering at the hands of Gabriel - he's acting like a spoiled-brat tyrant and has the wherewithal to kill whomever he pleases, at will. This is going to take more than some inspired action to change the balance of power, now. In fact, it will need the brute force and agility of a wild, assertive, masculine werewolf. Someone just like Declan....
