His notebooks and tools consisted of prayer, God’s Word, and the writings of early Christians and theologians-the Puritans and great men of faith.

Straight talk about the Holy Spirit. When the Holy Spirit is confined to creeds, the church becomes like a land with no water or a kite with no wind. In his life and writings, A.W. Tozer was insistent that the church reclaim a practical theology of the Holy Spirit - that it actually know him. The Counselor will help you cultivate sweet communion with God. Gifted at bringing lofty thoughts down low, Tozer explains clearly who the spirit is and what it means to know him. His words will leave you with a deep longing to be filled with the blessed spirit, to have joy, peace, life, and power in Him. "[The Holy Spirit] wants to be Lord of your life, to possess you so that you are no longer in command of the little vessel in which you sail."

From the Introduction: Someone said that while Dr. A. W. Tozer always sought to introduce sinners to their savior, he longed to help saints to see the greatness of God and to experience the life of victory and joy through surrender and faith. This theme - recognizing God for who he is, giving him the worship and honor due him - was particularly dominant in Dr. Tozer's late writings. To know God requires first of all a right relationship to him. It requires time, and this we must give. It requires also faith and knowledge, and this God gives us as we humbly seek him. And because we cannot know God apart from the illuminating Holy Spirit, we must welcome him, allowing him to indwell and possess us. The listener will find each chapter in this book complete in itself, and one may speak to him more than another. There is, however, progression, and the greater profit will come from at least one consecutive reading. The chapters were selected to instruct the heart that seeks to "follow on to know the Lord". Such a life may not be always easy, but at last it will be all that really matters. - Anita M. Bailey, former managing editor, the Alliance Witness

Wingspread is the biography of A.B. Simpson, written by A.W. Tozer. A pastor and missionary, Simpson's work became what is now the Christian and Missionary Alliance, a denomination characterized by its Christ-centered teaching and emphasis on missions. Simpson's influence saw a convergence of Calvinistic doctrine with the holiness movements of the late 19th century. Simpson and the C&MA had an enormous influence upon the evangelical foreign missions movement of the 20th century. The influence was also felt in the holiness movement with the formation of the Assemblies of God. Simpson is an interesting and key figure, in no small part due to his teachings on the fourfold Gospel and on healing.

It's a question that haunts us all at times-maybe when we're looking for the right job, thinking about moving to a new city, or deciding whether or not to get married. Thou hast ordained me, Thy messenger to them that are stubborn of heart and hard of hearing. When A. W. Tozer was a young preacher newly ordained into the ministry, he wrote a prayer that he published 30 years later under the title "The Prayer of a Minor Prophet." Fifty years after his death, Dr. Tozer's prophetic writings and sermons continue to deliver God's Word to His people. The test of a prophet is that his message transcends generations; even when he is gone, a prophet's message remains fresh and vital. In Voice of a Prophet, a never-before-published collection of writings, Dr. Tozer examines the lives and ministries of such biblical prophets as Elijah, Elisha and John the Baptist. A prophet is uniquely called by God; he never volunteers for the job, but his prophetic role in ministry for today's Church is an utter necessity.

Aiden Wilson Tozer (1897-1963) was an American evangelical pastor, speaker, writer, and editor. The Pursuit of God is an inspirational work that aims to guide those who want to follow Christ. This classic book is aimed at two groups of people: those familiar with the church but are still uncommitted, and those who are steeped in doctrine but lack a relational experience with God. Although well-versed in theology, Tozer follows a practical approach in matters of faith. The author contends that the individual ought to consider God not only as a creator, but also as the one who sustains life. He explains how fulfilling the relational experience can be.

Many people believe in God and believe that God is everywhere, but they have yet to experience his presence. What did it mean for Moses to encounter God at the burning bush? How did it change his life and his perception of God? What is keeping you from experiencing his presence in your life? It was in that burning bush experience that Moses began to understand and appreciate the sacredness of worship. Through this book, Tozer teaches how proper worship has to be equal to the one we are worshiping, so if we are worshiping God, we must do it on his terms. This means having a spirit of reverence and holiness - like Moses taking off his shoes and kneeling before him. The bush's fire did not frighten Moses, but rather it poured the essence of sacredness into his life, giving him an experience he had never had before. Let this book teach you how, like Moses, to kneel and worship before God's holy fire.
