Academy Award-winning actress Anne Hathaway (Rachel Getting Married, Alice in Wonderland, The Dark Knight Rises) lends her voice to this uniquely American fairy tale.  Follow the adventures of young Dorothy Gale and her dog Toto as they get swept away into the magical land of Oz , where they encounter characters and places you may remember from the movie - and several more that never made it to the big screen - on an unforgettable journey to the Emerald City.  “It’s such a wonderful book and I was so happy to be a part of bringing it to life”, Ms. Hathaway said. “There are a lot of great voices in it. The more fun you have with it, the sillier and the more free you get with it, the better it is because it’s a story that can handle it. It’s amazing to be able to discover something new about something you feel you know so well.”

Summary

This is the complete Wizard of Oz audio collection of the 14 original stories written by L. Frank Baum. The "Oz books" form a book series that begins with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) and relate the fictional history of the Land of Oz. Oz was created by author L. Frank Baum, who went on to write 14 full-length Oz books. Even while he was alive, Baum was styled as "the Royal Historian of Oz" to emphasize the concept that Oz is an actual place. The illusion created was that characters such as Dorothy and Princess Ozma related their adventures in Oz to Baum themselves, by means of wireless telegraph. Included in this collection: The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900) The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904) Ozma of Oz (1907) Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz (1908) The Road to Oz (1909) The Emerald City of Oz (1910) The Patchwork Girl of Oz (1913) Tik-Tok of Oz (1914) The Scarecrow of Oz (1915) Rinkitink in Oz (1916) The Lost Princess of Oz (1917) The Tin Woodman of Oz (1918) The Magic of Oz (1919) Glinda of Oz (1920)

Ozma of Oz

Summary

"Ozma of Oz: A Record of Her Adventures with Dorothy Gale of Kansas, the Yellow Hen, the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, Tiktok, the Cowardly Lion and the Hungry Tiger; Besides Other Good People too Numerous to Mention Faithfully Recorded Herein" published on July 30, 1907, was the third book of L. Frank Baum's "Oz" series. It was the first in which Baum was clearly intending a series of "Oz" books. It is the first "Oz" book where the majority of the action takes place outside of the Land of Oz. Only the final two chapters take place in Oz itself. This reflects a subtle change in theme: in the first book, Oz is the dangerous land through which Dorothy must win her way back to Kansas; in the third, Oz is the end and aim of the book. Dorothy's desire to return home is not as desperate as in the first book, and it is her uncle's need for her rather than hers for him that makes her return. "Oz" no. 4.

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

Summary

The classic children's tale The Wonderful Wizard of Oz written by L. Frank Baum follows the adventures of young Dorothy, who lives in Kansas with her Uncle Henry and Aunt Em. As many fans know from the beloved film adaptation of the book, a terrible swirling cyclone sweeps through the prairie area where Dorothy and her family are living, and in an attempt to get to safety, Dorothy's dog Toto buries himself under a bed. The house is picked up by the extreme winds, and when Dorothy awakens after the event, she is no longer in the town she calls home. Dorothy comes to find out that her house has crushed the Wicked Witch of the East, that she has freed the Munchkins from enslavement, and that she must now return to Kansas after she tracks down the Wizard of Oz in Emerald City. Along the way, Dorothy acquires friends and comrades such as the Scarecrow, the Tin Woodman, and the Cowardly Lion, who help her along her journey on the yellow brick road. The group encounters a series of hurdles, including one in which they have to kill the Wicked Witch of the West. At the end of her quest, Dorothy discovers that she had the power to return home all along and does so with a simple click of her bedazzled silver heels. Upon returning to the prairie, Dorothy has never felt so relieved to see her aunt and her uncle.

Glinda of Oz

Summary

Glinda of Oz is the 14th Land of Oz book by children's author L. Frank Baum, published on July 10, 1920. It is the last book of the original Oz series, which was later continued by other authors.  Like most of the Oz books, the plot features a journey through some of the remoter regions of Oz; though in this case the pattern is doubled: Dorothy and Ozma travel to stop a war between the Flatheads and Skeezers; then Glinda and a cohort of Dorothy's friends set out to rescue them.  The book was dedicated to Baum's second son, Robert Stanton Baum.

Lyman Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an author chiefly famous for children's books, particularly The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and its sequels. This story is about the king of the polar bears who lives in the far North, where all the animals fear him. One day, some men arrive in a boat, shoot him, and take his pelt. But by his own magic, he rises again, and the seagulls bring him feathers for a new coat. The polar bears, however, were not impressed with their king’s new coat, and one of them challenged him...
