Summary

In this essential handbook - a blend of Rich Dad, Poor Dad and The Happiness Project - the cohost of the wildly popular InvestED podcast shares her yearlong journey learning to invest, as taught to her by her father, investor and best-selling author Phil Town.  Growing up, the words finance, savings, and portfolio made Danielle Town's eyes glaze over, and the thought of stocks and financial statements shut down her brain. The daughter of a successful investor and best-selling financial author of Rule #1, Phil Town, she spent most of her adult life avoiding investing - until she realized that her time-consuming career as a lawyer was making her feel anything but in control of her life or her money. Determined to regain her freedom, vote for her values with her money, and deal with her fear of the unpredictable stock market, she turned to her father, Phil, to help her take charge of her life and her future through Warren Buffett-style value investing. Over the course of a year, Danielle went from avoiding everything to do with the financial industrial complex to knowing exactly how and when to invest in wonderful companies.  In Invested, Danielle shows you how to do the same: how to take command of your own life and finances by choosing companies with missions that match your values, using the same gold-standard strategies that have catapulted Warren Buffet and Charlie Munger to the top of the Forbes 400. Avoiding complex math and obsolete financial models, she turns her father's investing knowledge into 12 easy-to-understand lessons.  In each chapter Danielle examines the investment strategies she mastered as her increasing know-how deepened the trust between her and her father. Throughout, she streamlines the process of making wise financial decisions and shows you just how easy - and profitable - investing can be.  Capturing a warm, charming, and down-to-earth give and take between a headstrong daughter and her mostly patient dad, Invested makes the complex world of investing simple, straightforward, and approachable and will help you formulate your own investment plan - and foster the confidence to put it into action. Nice Girls Don't Get the Corner Office

Summary

Before you were told to "Lean In," Dr. Lois Frankel told you how to get that corner office. The New York Times best seller, is now completely revised and updated. In this edition, internationally recognized executive coach Lois P. Frankel reveals a distinctive set of behaviors - over 130 in all - that women learn in girlhood that ultimately sabotage them as adults.   She teaches you how to eliminate these unconscious mistakes that could be holding you back and offers invaluable coaching tips that can easily be incorporated into your social and business skills. Stop making "nice girl" errors that can become career pitfalls, such as: Mistake 13: Avoiding office politics. If you don't play the game, you can't possibly win.  Mistake 21: Multi-tasking. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should do it.   Mistake 54: Failure to negotiate. Don't equate negotiation with confrontation.  Mistake 70: Inappropriate use of social media. Once it's out there, it's hard to put the toothpaste back in the tube.  Mistake 82: Asking permission. Children, not adults, ask for approval. Be direct, be confident.

Girl Code

Summary

For fans of Girl Boss by Sophie Amoruso, I Am That Girl by Alexis Jones and You Are a Badass by Jen Sincero comes the latest book from best-selling author, entrepreneur, and master life coach Cara Alwill Leyba. Girl Code is a roadmap for female entrepreneurs, professional women, "side hustlers" (those with a day job who are building a business on the side), and anyone in between who wants to become a better woman. This book will not teach you how to build a multimillion dollar business. It won't teach you about systems or operational processes. But it will teach you how to build confidence in yourself, reconnect with your "why", eradicate jealousy, and ultimately learn the power of connection. Because at the end of the day, that's what life and business is all about. "I am witnessing a phenomenon. It seems as though a growing group of women entrepreneurs all around the world has discovered the secret to success and happiness in both their lives and careers. It's almost as though there is a hidden, underground world of power-playing females who have all cracked a magical code: they think positively, they support one another, and they truly believe they can have it all - and you can, too. There is something dynamic that happens when women genuinely show up for each other. When we lose the facades, when we cut the bulls--t, and when we truly have each other's backs. When we stop pretending everything is perfect, and we show the messy, beautiful parts of ourselves and our work that all look awfully similar. When we talk about our fears, our missteps, and our breakdowns. And most importantly, when we share our celebrations, our breakthroughs, and dish on what works. There is no reason to hoard information, connections, or insight. Wisdom is meant to be shared, so let's start sharing what we've learned to make each other better. Let's start building each other up. Let's live up to our potential and start ruling the world."

You Can Have It All, Just Not at the Same Damn Time

Summary

Best-selling author, entrepreneur, speaker, and life and business coach Romi Neustadt has a message for women: You can have it all - just not at the same damn time. Romi Neustadt is a mom of two, a wife, a daughter, best-selling author, speaker, entrepreneur, and coach. What's more, she's achieved these things without a staff of 10, the ability to sleep two hours a night or driving herself batsh*t crazy. She's figured out the key to having it all: Priorities, babe. In her second book, Romi provides a no-BS blueprint for women to figure out what to focus on and what not to. She explains why saying yes to everything and everyone really means saying no to the things that matter - to your goals, your dreams, and your true self. The key to achieving your wildest dreams isn't to downsize them. It's to embrace them more fully, and discard everything that isn't serving them. This audiobook will teach you how to: Zone in on what really matters to you, so you can ditch everything that isn't serving your dreams. Recognize and embrace your true worth as a provider, partner, and all-around kickass human. Say no to the millionth request from your kid's school for home-baked goods - without experiencing mom guilt. Establish boundaries that stick with coworkers, friends, and family. Ditch toxic relationships and the soul-sucking drama that accompanies them. Stop feeling like an impostor in your own life. Create habits that protect your time and energy. Kick fear (of not being lovable, pretty, or good enough) to the curb once and for all. Written in the same down-to-earth, accessible style that made her first book, Get Over Your Damn Self, a beloved best seller, this audiobook is for every woman who wants to live a fulfilled, authentic life without feeling stressed and exhausted. Romi is living proof that it's possible, and you will be too.

The Ultimate Woman: 13 Ways to Handle Your Money Like a Bad Ass Chick

1 rating

Summary

Saving ca$h Getting your money organized Wiping out debt Real-life budget Acquiring assets And so much more Oh, money. It makes the world go round, right? Despite what everyone says, money really can buy happiness at times. It may not be a fulfilling, long-term type of happiness, however, it can at least purchase short-term contentment and placate those obnoxious emotions. Unfortunately, if you do not handle your money well, you can see the dark side of the dollar bill, the frustration of not being prepared or having enough to get by, the struggle of living paycheck to paycheck, etc. As a society, the middle and upper classes in every country have a tendency to be spoiled; do not throw fruit at me, I am in there, too. Most of our issues are really and truly first-world problems. This says a lot about us as a society, but it also sheds some light on how we spend our money. However, it is also the silver lining of our cloud. If you have a tendency of having a lot of first-world problems, it means that you should be able to cut back on your spending with no problems. Personal finance is not just about cutting back, though. It is about properly allocating your money (also known as spending your money on the things on your financial priority list). In order to convey the importance of proper allocation, I have broken this book into 13 different sections. Chapter one is all about the first step of saving money: getting mentally prepared. Saving money is not just a physical thing; there is a mental aspect to it as well. If you are not mentally prepared, your budget will not last long. Be in the right state of mind, and put things into perspective. Chapter two is all about getting organized and filing away your financial records in a way that works best for you. Chapter three will delve a little deeper into your personal life.

Summary

Trying to be confident in today’s world is tough. Brutal, actually. When was the last time you got on social media and thought, “Man, that really helped me feel better about myself?" Give me a break! Sound familiar? Then, hop in; we’re going for a ride. Okay, so you’ve got some confidence issues. Of course you do! Who doesn’t these days? In a world where women are constantly bombarded by unrealistic beauty standards, “Sunday best” glimpses into the lives of others via social media, and TEDx talks on how to give perfect TEDx talks, where does an Average Jane fit in?    Meet Alex Perry: successful entrepreneur, speech language pathologist, TEDx speaker, and one proud, minivan-driving mom from the Midwest. Having started her business from the ground up and navigated around road blocks, potholes, and traffic jams, she understands what it’s like to struggle with confidence, especially when it feels like the road ahead is always bumpy.  Through her honest and delightfully awkward personal anecdotes, Alex encourages women to apply the brakes when confronted with confidence dead ends - pointless comparisons, insincerity, and stubborn independence, oh my! - and instead steer toward authenticity, support, and determination. Her witty, insightful, and caring guide will empower you to cruise through life’s twists and turns with more joy, peace, and the kind of success that is only found through true confidence. Now grab yourself a cold drink, climb in, and hold on tight; it’s time for your crash course. Seriously, hold on tight, bring some extra Cheetos, and please don’t make Alex parallel park.
