Trueman and Riley

Summary

First broadcast as Trueman, the pilot episode centres around a student found shot dead. 'Angel Heights' sees Trueman and Riley reexamining the death of a jockey, while in 'The Road to Hull', two brothers claim to have given up their life of crime, but then a corpse turns up. In 'High Windows', a film crew making a biopic of Philip Larkin is plagued by pranks. Renamed Trueman and Riley, Series 1 opens with the detectives relocated from Hull to Leeds, where they probe a man’s disappearance in 'Vanished'. In 'Story', a journalist falls from a building. The duo search for a stolen ring in 'Bond' and in 'Speed', Riley is on the trail of a familiar ex-con. In Series 2’s 'The Road to Nowhere', the pair investigate a burglary upsurge. The near-drowning of an ex-student leads to the unearthing of an old secret in 'The Three Degrees', and a male midwife is suspected of stealing from pregnant women in 'A Man’s World'. Passions run high after an arson attack in 'The Other Chic', and the duo is sucked into the world of online role-playing in 'Love Bytes'. Series 3’s 'Every Dog Has His Day' sees the detectives getting a murder case - only it’s a dog. In 'Angel Delight', they look into a robbery, and in 'Family Business', they investigate a man who goes missing with £98,000 of bookie’s winnings. An environmental activist is knocked off his bike in 'Green Machine', and in 'Home Truths', Trueman and Riley’s investigative skills are challenged by a 14-year-old. Written by BAFTA-winning dramatist Brian B. Thompson, this smart, entertaining crime drama stars Robert Daws as Trueman and Duncan Preston as Riley. Written by Brian B. Thompson. Smelling of Roses: The Complete Series 1-4

Summary

Prunella Scales stars in this BBC Radio comedy following the trials and tribulations of Rosie Burns and her Brighton-based events management company. Events manager Rosie Burns is used to coping with the unexpected, at work and at home. When her daughter, Kate, accidentally became a teenage mum, Rosie stepped in, raising her granddaughter, Jo, so that Kate could pursue her career in international banking. Now Jo works in the family firm alongside accountant Bob (who's nursing an unrequited love for Rosie) and Tess (whose love life never ceases to amaze). Things are ticking along nicely, until Rosie gets a phone call out of the blue - after 15 years working abroad, Kate's lost her job and is coming home.... In these four series, Rosie's life is shaken up as her dysfunctional family and recalcitrant clients cause problems on both the personal and the professional front. Confusion reigns when the company tackles a fundraiser for the Afghans, organising a town twinning causes complications, and, attempting to organise a literary prize, Rosie finds that not everything goes by the book.... Meanwhile, Kate's angling for a position at a major finance company, Jo's got man trouble - and there's a potential romantic interest in the cards for Rosie. Created by award-winning author Simon Brett, whose sitcom credits include After Henry and No Commitments, this hilarious cross-generational comedy stars Prunella Scales as Rosie, with Arabella Weir as Kate, Rebecca Callard as Jo, Duncan Preston as Bob and Annette Badland as Tess.
