Nutritional deficiencies have increased in frequency worldwide. Even the most industrialized countries in the world are seeing more cases of deficiency in vitamins, minerals, proteins, electrolytes, and other essential elements in their populations. Some of these have reached near-epidemic proportions, even in the USA (i.e. Vitamin D Deficiency). In this audiobook I address some of the more common types of deficiencies and the treatments that are administered to resolve them. Also included is a comprehensive list of essential nutrients and the symptoms that occur with deficiencies of these and the causes of them. NOTE: This audiobook is approximately 7,100 words in length. It is not an extensive medical journal but rather contains aspects of information on the subject that most laypersons would be seeking.

Over 100 types of PN have been identified, according to medical research organizations. This demonstrates the fact that each person will experience the physical results of damaged or diseased nerves, differently than do their fellow patients. Some people feel more of the burning sensation while others may feel very strong tingling that literally feels as if a colony of ants are stinging them simultaneously on their feet and/or legs. Some PN patients are affected exclusively within their feet and they may experience not only tingling and burning sensations within them but they may also feel stabbing pains as well. Others may feel pressure type sensations within their feet and/or their hands, as if they are swollen, when they are actually normal size and no fluid retention (edema) is present in them. Yet other PN sufferers may feel a tightening-sensation within their extremities, as if they are wrapped tightly with spandex bandages or they are wearing tight-fitting socks or gloves. My purpose for this new audiobook is to help patients with PN conditions know that they are not alone with the sometimes strange and unusual symptoms of their disease, and to help those with friends or loved ones who are sufferers, understand how diverse and sometimes severe symptoms of nerve-related diseases can actually be.

This is my personal story regarding symptoms, diagnosis and treatment for autoimmune hypothyroidism caused by Hashimoto's thyroiditis, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Adrenal Fatigue and other metabolic-related conditions that developed co-morbid to my thyroid disease. I also share information regarding my symptom-struggles including emotional aspects and about my difficulties in finding a doctor experienced in treating thyroid disease with related conditions attached to it. I also include a chapter about my reason for becoming a Thyroid Patient Advocate and about the growing importance for public education on thyroid diseases. It is my hope that my story will inspire other patients to become proactive in obtaining quality care for their health disorders and to partner with their doctors to achieve this. I also hope this audiobook will serve to inspire patients with difficult thyroid disease cases, to achieve coping skills for gaining a better quality-of-life. This audiobook is not intended to be an extensive medical manual but is intended to contain information most often sought by laypersons on the subject.

If I were to personally name the symptom I believe to be the most life-altering and the one that causes the most anguish resulting from the disease of hypothyroidism, I would have to say that for me and likely for many other hypothyroid patients, "depression" would be that symptom. Certainly anxiety can also be present in hypothyroid patients and medical research studies have revealed this fact clearly. While anxiety commonly occurs together to varying degrees with depression, true clinical depression is often the emotional disorder that can more-often lead one to severe states of anguish, hopelessness and despair. It is in fact a major cause of suicide throughout the world according to medical statistics and this is just as true of hypothyroid patients who can experience ongoing struggles with this sometimes debilitating emotional issue as I have with my own autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's thyroiditis). Within the chapters of this audiobook, I address this emotional symptom of an underactive thyroid gland, including descriptions of how it manifests and how hypothyroid patients can deal with it and have it treated successfully to regain an improved quality of life. I will also include medical research study quotes, found on the U.S. National Insitutes of Health medical research information website (PubMed), which allows reprints for public education purposes. It is my sincere hope that this information proves to be helpful to hypothyroid patients seeking information regarding stubborn symptoms of depression that do not resolve for them adequately in spite of being treated for their hypothyroidism. Dedication: To all of my fellow hypothyroid patients, who struggle with low mood issues as I have. It is my prayer for you, to find peace of mind and victory over your feelings of chronic depression. It is also my hope to inspire you toward successful coping and treatment through the words I offer in this audiobook.
