My Personal Peripheral Neuropathy Story

Summary

According to reputable medical sources, there are more than 100 identified types of Peripheral Neuropathies (PN) that are experienced by between 15 and 30 million people in the U.S. and at least 130 million people, globally (statistics vary somewhat among sources). While there is such a large number of PN types, all of these conditions boil down to one thing - nerve damage resulting in pain or failure of them to function properly. Nerves become changed with PN, in their reactions to pain and other physical sensations, which can also cause muscle weakness and potential dysfunction in major organs and systems of the body, once being damaged by disease processes. In this audiobook, I share my own story regarding my personal experiences with PN, as a thyroid disease and diabetic patient; my also having experienced other negative metabolic manifestations. These include fatty liver disease and vitamin deficiencies, that were contributing factors in my case of nerve disease.

The Strange Symptoms and Challenges of Peripheral Neuropathy

Summary

Over 100 types of PN have been identified, according to medical research organizations. This demonstrates the fact that each person will experience the physical results of damaged or diseased nerves, differently than do their fellow patients. Some people feel more of the burning sensation while others may feel very strong tingling that literally feels as if a colony of ants are stinging them simultaneously on their feet and/or legs. Some PN patients are affected exclusively within their feet and they may experience not only tingling and burning sensations within them but they may also feel stabbing pains as well. Others may feel pressure type sensations within their feet and/or their hands, as if they are swollen, when they are actually normal size and no fluid retention (edema) is present in them. Yet other PN sufferers may feel a tightening-sensation within their extremities, as if they are wrapped tightly with spandex bandages or they are wearing tight-fitting socks or gloves. My purpose for this new audiobook is to help patients with PN conditions know that they are not alone with the sometimes strange and unusual symptoms of their disease, and to help those with friends or loved ones who are sufferers, understand how diverse and sometimes severe symptoms of nerve-related diseases can actually be.

The Mysteries, Fun and Gratification of Ancestral DNA Testing

Summary

This book is not deeply scientific but rather relates the journey (mine) that a person will take generally who is seeking their ancestral history, including learning enough to understand how to interpret their DNA analysis. As I relate in my numbered posts/articles that follow, there can be satisfaction, surprises and at times, disappointments. All of this can happen when one takes a look at the results of ancestral DNA testing. I wrote this informational book in parts over several months, like one might make entries into a diary. What the information will do, is to help other people considering ancestry testing and analyses, to roughly know what to expect from them. Knowing your ancestral background can be tremendously interesting. There are people in America (many) who simply write "Caucasian" or "White" on forms that ask what their ethnicity is. While this may be true, they likely don't realize that they may have African or Hispanic countries in their ancestral background and possibly some Native American as well. In some cases, a significant percent of their ancestry may have actually come from the Middle East. The same is true of African people in America; they may have more European ancestry in their back ground than they could have ever imagined. So, breaking into those mysteries via scientific DNA testing that is proven to be accurate (although different companies may report analytical findings differently), can actually be fun, important and truly gratifying. Learn more about DNA testing via narration of my compiled numbered postings.

Shocking Present Day Christian Stories and Bible Truths: Faith Building Testimonies and Brief Holy Scripture Teachings

Summary

These true Christian testimonies and doctrines are each presented in short chapters. They are, in many cases, summations of biblical teaching without the unnecessary filler information. A wide range of subjects are covered, and you'll hear about some subjects that are not often addressed in churches. Some of the questions answered by the book's chapters include: "Where did Satan and his kingdom of devils come from?", "Do miracles still happen today?", "Was there a 'Genesis Gap' (unrecorded time periods)?", and "Are there degrees of punishment in hell?" There are also true stories of supernatural occurrences of both evil and godly origins. It is my hope and intention that listeners come away from the book with stronger faith, including greater trust in God.

Very Common Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease

Summary

Most of the general population is not well informed about a common condition affecting the liver, that affects an estimated 29 million people in America alone. Up to 6.5 million of these people, will go on to experience inflammation in their livers or what is also referred to as "steatohepatitis." Many will eventually experience cirrhosis in their livers, meaning scarring/lesions that will begin to appear within the organ, which is irreversible and that can eventually lead to death or in the need for a life-saving liver transplant. The author whose words you are listening to in this audiobook, is a patient who has lived with a condition of non-alcoholic fatty liver, since the year 2007 (for six years at the time of writing). My case of the disease has not gone on to become steatohepatitis but I have been diagnosed with enlargement of my liver, which is reversible at this point, if I follow my doctor's treatments and a weight loss plan (my obesity is between moderate and severe). While I am not a medical professional, I am one who can relate facts concerning this disease, from firsthand experience with it. I can also pass along the knowledge I have accrued, through six years of extensive research on literally hundreds of reputable medical websites, as well as from blogs and articles written by fellow liver disease patients. While the information I will relate is not as extensive as that one could contain through a professional medical journal, I do believe I can express information that most laypersons would be seeking, in addition to sharing my personal experience with this potentially very serious disease.

Are Revenue Sharing Article/Content Publishing Sites Beneficial?

Summary

The revenue-sharing content website industry has grown into a multi-billion dollar a year online business. These are websites (sites) that offer interesting or needed information to readers who visit their online pages but who at the same time, sell advertising units, which appear as ads around each piece of content they display (i.e. articles, audios, photos or videos). This system can be very beneficial to content contributors but much of this depends on what websites one decides to register-with and the level of quality content submissions one has. In some cases, less-reputable or dishonest revenue sharing websites have done disservice to their contributors, by discontinuing revenue-sharing after gleaning massive amounts of content from them, by canceling contributor's memberships for bogus reasons or by unrightfully penalizing the revenue shares of members. In the chapters of this audiobook, I address these types of issues and offer recommendations for choosing revenue sharing sites that can be beneficial rather than negative experiences for content contributors.

A Complete Look at CFS and Fibromyalgia

Summary

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia affect millions of Americans and many more worldwide. While a single definitive cause for these syndromes has not been found, factors involved in triggering them include chronic stress, nutritional and hormone deficiencies, post viral illnesses and mildly insufficient adrenal function. The debilitating fatigue and joint/muscle pain caused by these very real illnesses, can seriously reduce the quality-of-life for those who experience them. This audiobook addresses the symptoms, diagnosis and treatments for these life-altering health disorders. Also addressed are aspects of these illnesses, that can include hormonal deficiencies, including low cortisol levels.

Cover art for The Depression of Hypothyroidism

The Depression of Hypothyroidism

Summary

If I were to personally name the symptom I believe to be the most life-altering and the one that causes the most anguish resulting from the disease of hypothyroidism, I would have to say that for me and likely for many other hypothyroid patients, "depression" would be that symptom. Certainly anxiety can also be present in hypothyroid patients and medical research studies have revealed this fact clearly. While anxiety commonly occurs together to varying degrees with depression, true clinical depression is often the emotional disorder that can more-often lead one to severe states of anguish, hopelessness and despair. It is in fact a major cause of suicide throughout the world according to medical statistics and this is just as true of hypothyroid patients who can experience ongoing struggles with this sometimes debilitating emotional issue as I have with my own autoimmune hypothyroidism (Hashimoto's thyroiditis). Within the chapters of this audiobook, I address this emotional symptom of an underactive thyroid gland, including descriptions of how it manifests and how hypothyroid patients can deal with it and have it treated successfully to regain an improved quality of life. I will also include medical research study quotes, found on the U.S. National Insitutes of Health medical research information website (PubMed), which allows reprints for public education purposes. It is my sincere hope that this information proves to be helpful to hypothyroid patients seeking information regarding stubborn symptoms of depression that do not resolve for them adequately in spite of being treated for their hypothyroidism. Dedication: To all of my fellow hypothyroid patients, who struggle with low mood issues as I have. It is my prayer for you, to find peace of mind and victory over your feelings of chronic depression. It is also my hope to inspire you toward successful coping and treatment through the words I offer in this audiobook.

Cover art for Peripheral Neuropathy Causes and Treatments

Peripheral Neuropathy Causes and Treatments

Summary

Some estimates by medical research groups state that up to 20 million Americans suffer from some form of peripheral neuropathy (PN) and this number is much higher when worldwide statistics are considered. A major reason for the rise in incidence for these conditions of damage to the nerves in the body that results in pain and dysfunction in them is the increase in cases of diabetes and pre-diabetic syndromes. There are many other causes of PN however, including old age, viral infections, nutritional deficiencies, various autoimmune diseases, dysfunction of the arterial system (blood circulation) and drug-use of both prescribed types and varieties of illegal drugs. Within the chapters of this audiobook, I address the types of symptoms involved in PN diseases, the types of nerves that can be affected and treatments that are administered to treat underlying causes of PN and to directly address its symptoms. This is not an extensive medical journal but rather contains aspects of information on the subject that most laypersons would be seeking.
