Bring the audiobooks you already have
ListenTo.It works with audiobook files in ordinary folders on your computer, NAS or external drive. Point it at a folder and it does the rest.
Formats
| Audio files | M4B, M4A, MP3, AAC, FLAC, Ogg |
|---|---|
| Book layouts | One file per book, or a folder of parts (CD1/CD2 folders and numbered tracks are put in order) |
| Chapters | Embedded M4B/MP4 chapters, cue sheets, OverDrive chapter markers, and chapters built from track titles |
| Covers | Embedded artwork or a cover image in the folder; replace any cover yourself |
| Browser playback | Files a browser cannot play natively are converted on the fly by your server |
Folder structure
Any sensible layout works. Author/Series/1. Title/ gives the best results, and tags inside the files are used when they are present.

Metadata sources
Titles, authors, narrators, series, descriptions and covers come from your files first. You can fill gaps or match a book by hand using:
- Audible data through Audnexus (with a region you choose)
- Open Library
- Apple Books (iTunes Search)
- Google Books (with your own API key)
Fields you edit by hand are locked, so a later scan never overwrites them. Your audio files are never modified.
Several libraries
Keep fiction, non-fiction and children's books in separate libraries, each with its own folders, scan schedule and audience age rating. ListenTo.It recognises the same book in two libraries or two narrations of one title, so ratings and recommendations treat them as one work.
Library Sources Preview
Library Sources bring books in from services you already use. The first one connects your Audible account through Libation, an open-source tool, and imports the books you choose into a library, with series and descriptions. It is in preview and is set up by the server's administrator.
ListenTo.It is not affiliated with Audible or Libation. Only import books you are entitled to.
