ListenTo.It is made by Hankinsoft Development Inc. Last updated 5 November 2026.
The short version
Your audiobooks, listening progress and history live on your own ListenTo.It server. Hankinsoft does not receive them. This website has no ads, analytics, tracking pixels or third-party scripts.
This website
The pages of listento.it set no cookies. Our web host keeps standard server logs (IP address, page, time, browser) for security and troubleshooting. The web player at listento.it/app stores your device's settings (speed, skip intervals, theme, your chosen server and unsent progress) in your browser's local storage. It talks directly to the ListenTo.It account service and to your own server; your listening data does not pass through listento.it.
ListenTo.It accounts
What we store: your name, email address, the identifiers of the sign-in methods you use (email, Apple, Google), and a list of the ListenTo.It servers you have signed in to and when. Sign-in uses a session cookie on accounts.listento.it.
Ratings and reviews: if you rate or review books on a server linked to your account and keep "Sync my ratings" on, your ratings and reviews are kept with your account so they follow you to your other servers. Only you see them, except reviews you mark public (shown with your first name and last initial) and ratings you choose to count in community averages (counted, never shown individually). Servers also send the titles, authors, narrators and identifiers of their books so the same book can be recognised everywhere; nothing about who listens to them.
What we do not store: passwords, your audiobooks, your listening history or anything else on your servers.
Who receives it: when you sign in to a ListenTo.It server, that server receives your name, email and account id. Sign-in codes are delivered by our email provider. We do not sell data.
Apple and Google: we receive only what they share for sign-in (an identifier, your email and name) and use it only to sign you in.
Remote access
When a server owner turns on Remote access, the ListenTo.It relay forwards encrypted connections to that server. The relay sees the server's address and the amount of data, not the content: the encryption is between your device and the server.
Your servers
Each ListenTo.It server is run by its owner, who is responsible for the data on it. The server stores your profile, progress, bookmarks, ratings and the devices you sign in with. Ask its owner, or use Settings in the app, to see or delete it.
Your choices
You can remove sign-in methods and delete your account (with its ratings and reviews) at accounts.listento.it, turn rating sync and sharing off in the app's privacy settings, and delete all your ratings there. Questions: kyle@hankinsoft.com.
