Summary: The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav

Summary

The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav, book summary by Meaningful Publishing Important Note: This is a book summary of The Seat of the Soul by Gary Zukav. This is not the original book. In The Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav shares a powerful discovery he made after studying historical figures like Albert Einstein, William James, and the psychologist Carl Jung. Zukav believes that these thought leaders (along with many others) developed their groundbreaking theories and game-changing ideas by going beyond themselves. They had their breakthroughs by transcending their egos and tapping into a source of knowledge that was already there: the soul. Zukav’s belief is that being able to tap into the soul gives us “authentic power". Authentic power is about our ability to make a deep connection with our soul and its ultimate purpose for our lives. Each of us, he tells us, comes into this world with a soul that has a purpose. And that soul’s purpose is intertwined within the greater purpose of the universe as a whole.... Heavy stuff, but we’ll unpack these concepts as we dive into the book's big ideas. The bottom line is this: The ideas that Zukav shares in this book will help you become the authority of your own life. No more being overly concerned with what others think.  No more trying to manipulate or control people. This book teaches us how to live a life that aligns with our soul's purpose, so that we can lead lives that are meaningful and fulfilling. Here’s what you’ll learn about in this audiobook summary of The Seat of the Soul: How to lead your life with authority. How to authentically interact with others. How to gain a better understanding of your actions and motivations. How to tap into your purpose. And much, much more.

Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin - Book Summary

Summary

Note: This is an audiobook summary of the following book: Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy SEALS Lead and Win by Jocko Willink and Leif Babin About: Extreme Ownership: How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win is a book on leadership by two former US Navy SEALS, Jocko Willink and Leif Babin. They have translated their experiences on the battlefield into actionable steps toward leadership success in the business world. In the book, the authors tell us that leaders are responsible for everything under their care. This means if there is faulty production in the warehouse, dissenting employees, a culture of distrust, or any breakdown along the supply chain, it is ultimately the leader’s fault. The title gives away the overarching message of the book - extreme ownership. Using anecdotes from their time leading the SEAL Team Three Task Force Bruiser, Jocko and Leif highlight the responsibility of leadership and the character development necessary to lead a well-equipped team. Each chapter begins with a personal military example from their time in Iraq. From these personal stories a leadership principle and application to business is laid out. Time and time again success and failure is placed on the shoulders of the leader, not on those under them. There is no room or space for scapegoating. A leader is called to own up to the responsibility of his or her position. Both Jocko and Leif emphasize the importance of a leader to take the blame for mistakes, to not blame subordinates, but rather allow subordinates to receive the praise for positive outcomes. The authors focus on simplification to avoid confusion, decisiveness and prioritization to execute effectively, and being disciplined in all areas of life - while maintaining a certain degree of adaptability for times that call for quick decisions or swift actions in response to unexpected changes in the battlefield or marketplace. The lessons they learned in battle, when implemented in the business world, improve leadership and thereby create additional success for companies. They translate life and death scenarios in combat to success and failure tactics in the board room. Extreme Ownership is a leader’s ability to own everything in their world knowing that there is no one else to blame. Belief in the mission and perseverance will bring about victory. That belief and passion must be communicated clearly with action plans, and the vision must be contagious to those being lead in order for success to be achieved. Here's what you'll learn about in this audiobook summary: If you are in leadership over anyone or seek to one day be then this book is for you. Maybe you’re the CEO of a company, the point person on a project for school or work, managing volunteers, a pastor, or a parent. We all find ourselves in one leadership role or another, and because of that, you’ll find some really powerful nuggets of wisdom in this book summary that you’ll be able to apply directly within your own life. Along the way you will learn the discipline and dedication of the US Navy Seals. You will find anecdotes not easily forgotten as these men learned valuable lessons in life and death situations that can be applied to your everyday life. The underlying principles will stay with you, and you will walk away with a clear vision of what it takes to be proactive, organized, disciplined, and mission-minded in becoming a true leader.
