Summary

A Soil Owner's Manual: How to Restore and Maintain Soil Health is about restoring the capacity of your soil to perform all the functions it was intended to perform. This book is not another fanciful guide on how to continuously manipulate and amend your soil to try and keep it productive. This book will change the way you think about and manage your soil. It may even change your life. If you are interested in solving the problem of dysfunctional soil and successfully addressing the symptoms of soil erosion, water runoff, nutrient deficiencies, compaction, soil crusting, weeds, insect pests, plant diseases, and water pollution, or simply wish to grow healthy vegetables in your family garden, then this book is for you. Soil health pioneer Jon Stika describes in simple terms how you can bring your soil back to its full productive potential by understanding and applying the principles that built your soil in the first place. Understanding how the soil functions is critical to reducing the reliance on expensive inputs to maintain yields. Working with, instead of against, the processes that naturally govern the soil can increase profitability and restore the soil to health. Restoring soil health can proactively solve natural resource issues before regulations are imposed that will merely address the symptoms. This book will lead you through the basic biology and guiding principles that will allow you to assess and restore your soil. It is part of a movement currently underway in agriculture that is working to restore what has been lost. A Soil Owner's Manual: How to Restore and Maintain Soil Health will give you the opportunity to be part of this movement. Restoring soil health is restoring hope in the future of agriculture, from large farm fields and pastures, down to your own vegetable or flower garden.

The Black Sun: The Alchemy and Art of Darkness

2 ratings

Summary

In this audiobook, Jungian analyst Stanton Marlan reexamines the paradoxical image of the black sun and the meaning of darkness in Western culture. In the image of the black sun, Marlan finds the hint of a darkness that shines. He draws upon his clinical experiences - and on a wide range of literature and art, including Goethe’s Faust, Dante’s Inferno, the black art of Rothko and Reinhardt - to explore the influence of light and shadow on the fundamental structures of modern thought as well as the contemporary practice of analysis. He shows that the black sun accompanies not only the most negative of psychic experiences but also the most sublime, resonating with the mystical experience of negative theology, the Kabbalah, the Buddhist notions of the void, and the black light of the Sufi mystics. An important contribution to the understanding of alchemical psychology, this audiobook draws on a postmodern sensibility to develop an original understanding of the black sun. It offers insight into modernity, the act of imagination, and the work of analysis in understanding depression, trauma, and transformation of the soul. Marlan’s original reflections help us to explore the unknown darkness conventionally called the self.

How to Control Co-Dependent People

1 rating

Summary

How to Control Co-Dependent People takes a satirical approach to shedding light upon a very dark subject: narcissistic abuse. I wrote this in 2015, and shortly thereafter, my life took a turn for the better and I put all this behind me.  I actually forgot what it was like to be codependent. Since then, I’ve gone further in my research into what underlies toxic interpersonal relationships, and I’ve learned how to identify it in government, media, religion, and corporations and the dynamic between these entities and those they control, influence, and/or enslave. I believe the master-slave dichotomy is the fundamental struggle here, as we are born into a society that encourages and rewards lockstep conformity.  This audiobook is intended to demonstrate to those struggling with codependency just how narcissists actually view them. By hearing their “play book”, codependents should be able to recognize covert abuse and avoid its pernicious effects.

Summary

The reception accorded to The Initiate has been at once gratifying, instructive, and curious. No less than three different people have claimed to be its author and confided this intelligence to one of my friends “in the know”, who, with considerable amusement, passed it on to me without, I may add, divulging their names; neither did he inform them of the identity of the real author.

30 Ways to Become One with God

Summary

Unto you is given the power to create and accomplish in life the deep desires of your heart. The incarnation of God in man, as man, is this power. Freely it is given to all alike. Some intuitively realize this and bring forth great works. Others are lulled by their material acceptances from childhood to the present and never realize that within them is this unconditioned possibility. The infinite expects the finite to reproduce in its area all that which the infinite is. God’s expectation is upon you.  It bids you arise from the lethargy of what you believe and move into the area of sure knowledge, which is spiritual. You may believe you cannot succeed, but God expects you to prosper and has equipped you to do so. You may believe that the world is against you, but the divine knows that in your inward parts is written a right use of the law of mind that can change the world.  The power of God to accomplish does not ask for your supplication. It awaits your recognition that it is. As you act with authority, the power accepts your direction and brings to pass your dictates. Piety and meekness limit the free action of God. Sincerity and intention give it freedom to perform its full mission.

The Kiss of the Pachinko Girl

Summary

"Hell itself is also a dwelling place." (Japanese proverb) An erotic art house movie The Beginning of the End, directed by famous Frenchman Sergey Ribery, was released in Japan to critical acclaim. Little did the audience know that Misa Hayami, the actress in the movie, had died in a freak accident during filming. Its director Sergey was also murdered in what appears to be a ritual killing. Amateur moviemaker Ryuuji Tanaka became obsessed with the story. In an attempt to make an investigative documentary about the case that would reveal the shocking truth behind their deaths, he uncovered extremely sinister evidence of not only illegal gang activities but also bad pharmaceutical testing practice and even a grand scale of political corruptions. At the same time, Carson Smith, a middle-aged American businessman who made Tanaka's acquaintance by chance at work in the multinational heavy metal recycling company, was approached by a girl who took up the identity of the supposedly dead actress Misa Hayami, in the movie. He took a keen interest in the young woman's welfare.  With Tanaka, the pair took on a trip to Hokkaido to undercover the truth behind Misa's true identity. What will they find? What shocking revelations await them in the snow-buried village in the ruthless mountain ranges? Listen to the audiobook to find out! The Kiss of the Pachinko Girl is the second book of a four-part crime thriller series. Listeners are encouraged to read all books in the series in sequence in order to get the full impact of the colossal, twisted story about the Pachinko girl.
